Patrick is writing him? Ok I'm now really looking forward to the character. Very rare for me not to like a character written by Patrick.

that is using religion, i was using a possible explanation genetically for the mutation.  and given their religion i doubt they'd want to admit it is because some one did something when they are not supposed to

Before I start, I just want to say I agree with your post.   :)

Now, a major nitpick is incoming.  You managed to find a serious pet peeve of mine.

The Qun much more of a philosophy than a religion.

The Qun (kyoon) is a code of honor based on the writings of the Ashkaari Koslun. The Qun defines the role of everyone and everything in the society of the Qunari ("People of the Qun"), regardless of whether it is spiritual or mundane. For example, some Qunari are raised as soldiers from a very young age. They are expected to be strong, disciplined, and stoic, adhering without fail to the tenets of honor and duty as defined in the Qun. Fanatical in this devotion, the Qunari are prepared to wage war throughout their entire lives as part of their attempts to "enlighten" all other races in regards to their philosophy.

The Qunari do not believe in deities and find the concept of invisible, omnipotent beings laughable. The Qunari place religious focus on the divine moral structure of the world, not divine beings. The Qunari tolerate deism in the converted populations in Rivain and Seheron, however, as they view their inhabitants as just beginning the path to enlightened self-knowledge, and that they will discard that sort of superstition eventually.

Anyhow, carry on.

@All Out of the new characters (the ones not from DA2,) I think the only author that has been confirmed was Mary writing Vivienne.

Well, we know that Lukas wrote the blond elven woman, though we're not (completely sure) she'll be in.

They may not see "hornless" = "special" as a religious belief so much as science.  What we consider superstition today was at one time considered absolute fact.

While I agree with your point, and while I do know that the Qunari have the most technology, I'm strong doubt they really know about genetic science yet.  Even in our world, we really didn't know very much until the 20th Century.  I doubt we'll hear about it much outside of family trees in Thedas.  In fact, the only game with a more traditional medieval fantasy setting that I've played that talks about genes is The Witcher.   I enjoy both series, but I'm glad this is DA and not The Witcher.

Agree completely (except about The Witcher, never played it).

The qunari would probably figure it out, though, because of their advanced technology, and how they handle reproduction (something done for the betterment of the species, which is kind of the definition of animal husbandry.)

Very likely. Iron Bull was his Twitter Avatar for some time.

Ok but why nobody starts a Sera/blond elf discussion Thread? ;)

I have a feeling he's a bit like a Qunari version of Oghren (in a good way ofcourse), yet even more awesome. I will keep this guy in my party as much as possible.

While she hasn't been officially confirmed, we have seen her in alpha gameplay footage, so I think it's more than likely that she's in.  How common is it for them to completely remove a character (and companions aren't minor ones) once they get to that stage of development?

Oh, I'm quite sure she's in (same for the Warden), but a bit of caution doesn't hurt ;).

We may not have known much about genes, but we've had selective breeding pretty well figured since before we've had history. Given that selective breeding is a major part of Qunari society, I'd have to imagine they'd recognize a correlation between hornless qunari and hypothetical crossbreeding with humans.

You do bring up a very excellent point. :D

Here's my source of confusion:  I'm not sure if the Qunari have bred with humans enough to look at the correlation.  The Qunari are very very strict about conception.  You've got to get approval from a few sources just to have your mate.  Then there is more approval that must be done in order to conceive.  I don't think that there have been enough "oopies" among the Quanri to really have a decent sample size of half humans.   There might be more among the Tal-Vashoth, but I don't think the Qunari cares about what they do.

Finally, the Qunari are...big.  I'm not trying to be a pervert (for once, I swear!) but I was just thinking of physical size.  Though I do think that Sten was trolling Morrigan with how rough Qunari intimacy is...he is really big.  I'm not sure if many non-Qunari can handle it.

You familiar with professional wrestling at all? Because that last bit reminded me of a story the Iron Sheik once told about walking in on Andre the Giant having sex with a normal sized woman.

Anyway, I suppose it's possible it hasn't happened enough for them to recognize the correlation yet. Obviously we don't know that it's happened at all, or if crossbreeding is actually possible.

That being said, strict as they are, people who practice selective breeding tend to be experimental with it. And their strictness comes from a desire to improve, not a desire to maintain racial purity. So I have to imagine it's at least been tried.

I know Sten was trolling Morrigan, but the "something to bite down on" comment really stuck with me :P  If Iron Bull ends up an LI, he can blame Sten for the fact that he won't be getting a lot of action from my Inquisitor.

I actually hope they reference that conversation if he is an LI.

Inquisitor: "I'm not going to need a prybar and something to bite down on, am I?"

Iron Bull: "...The hell gave you that idea?"
