Both Darkspawn stories make sense, think about it, Corypheus asked Hawk if he was a slave to the dwarves (Which means the Tevinters and Dwarves were together on this, you could also visit a "statue of Dumat" down there). Plus Corypheus confirmed that they did usurp "The City", but they only saw blackness. It could be that the original magisters entered the city from the deep roads, since its closer to lyrium and other magical stuff, and thus they returned from "The City" as monsters and came through the deep roads, thus causing chaos first with the Dwarves. You should also be aware, that there was a time when there was no veil. What kind of entity would be powerful enough ,then, to put something  as significant as the veil on the world...The most likely possibility would be this "Maker" enity. And then about the golden city...Dragons or dragons like those Old Gods, come from beyond the Fade. The golden city cannot be reached in the fade, but, it can be seen from anywhere in the fade. It might as well be that the Golden City is the gate-way to what lies "beyond the fade" ( and now my own bias would be that the "Maker", that which made the veil, is the gate maker, gate keeper, or a gate guardian of the barriers or of these worlds - Thedas/The Fade/Maybe the Golden City/Beyond the Fade-). In Dragon Age Inquisition, oh man there's a crap load of stuff  going on with the veil, so maybe something related with maker, or opposed to "him" is trying to undo the veil, mashing the fade and thedas together possibly to get to the now "Black City" where many secrets lie, or even beyond. It could be a Dreamer, Corypheus, "one of his friends", a sleeping old god, Flemeth, magisters, elves, Feynriel, Feynriel the Dream-Stalker, Morrigan, Morrigan's kid, or even more realistic, Sandal. ;) Also, Lyrium is present everywhere in the Fade, and specifically underground of Thedas

The maker is actually the elf trickster god and he tricked the dragons into sleeping. Then he created the darkspawn to screw with everyone.

Bioware has stated they will not address the Maker's identity and will keep it purposefully vague.

maybe the veil is meant to indeed separate them in their realms, interesting

Reading the OP was akin to watching "twitch plays Microsoft word" (wild fan theory edition). Not too sure if any of it made sense, but I would like to see more information in the games about the various deities, that'd be nice

The Maker is simply an excuse for man to do what he does best.

All I'm saying is the Maker may not be what the Chantry, (and you), make it out to be, ( Their God, or A fake being who doesn't even exist). I think it is THE MAGICAL FORCE/ SOURCE OF MAGIC, and that is the invisible keystone to the events of when the veil (the separation and sealing) was established. For example, many believe that the elven pantheon is real and true, despite the crazy facts about the sun touching the earth and it being almost destroyed, you might believe more of those stories, than the Maker Theory. Why? Its true this game has the view point of Atheists, and its made for, and by them, but the dalish pantheon seems more unbelievable than the Maker. I don't like or believe the Chantry because its basically designed to be evil and to fail. They already tore pages from the Chant of Light for racist and political purposes. Despite what Bioware said, many still believe that the Maker is a God  from another Pantheon who  (even though they say in a dev diary that gods are not all that active...or even real in Thedas). This might mean for me that the trickster is the Maker and the Maker IS real, but the dread wolf may not even care for the chant, but he might be the guy who was there when the Magisters went to the City nd gave them the blight....divine herpes...whatever. But the elven pantheon for the gods sealed in the Abyss where to us the old gods sealed underground. So would the elven gods teach humans blood magic to destroy the elven civilization? Makes sense?? I dunno, maybe this world really is just random

I'm pretty sure that at the beginning when this was still going to be the spiritual successor to BG they intended to do true epic story telling and at some point travel to the black city and shake up the status quo of the veil/mages/demonic posession.

Then they got grim derp and decided we needed a status quo universe of mostly unchanging misery.

I hate when people post long unparagraphed rants. I just can't get through them.

And we all know that the Maker is really Samuel L. Jackson.

Unless the maker is actually the player character being posessed by the maker.

Not very much like a spirit posession potentially.

The Maker if he is real would be connected to the black city, how is the player character related to the black city?

Can gender even apply to the concept of the Maker?

Maybe, the forces at work want to restore the black to gold, to reinstate that which is known by some as Maker.
