Can't log into EA account on Xbox 360

I haven't been able to log into my EA account on Dragon Age on my xbox 360.  There is no problem with my connection, I can get on xbox live, chat with friends, etc.  I know that I have my account email and password correct but whenever I try to log in it says 'Please try again'.  This isn't because of incorrect information, because if I put in an incorrect password it brings up a different message.  It is really frustrating because since I cannot log in I cannot download any of the DLC. 

Also I tried to create a new account through the game, using an email address I've never used before.  The game told me the display name was already in use (though I only input my email address and a password).  However I did get an email at that email address saying I had created an EA master account.  I don't know if this is relavent but it seems like it might be related.

I have seen a few other people post this same problem in various place, and I have sent an email via the official help website (though I am currently having trouble with that site too), but I have seen no one offer solutions.  Has anyone figured this out?

The easiest way to confirm if the login information you are trying to use is valid would be to go to www.ea.com and attempt to sign in by clicking the 'Sign In' button located near the bottom portion of the webpage.

Yeah, I've go exactly the same problem. Seeing as a friend hasn't had any issues with logging on and I've tried on his Xbox to no avail.

The only thing I've done differently than him was getting my Gamertag and EA account linked prior to game release so I can only assume this is where the issue is and only the EA customer suport can fix anything like that so I've been awaiting a response from them for around 30 hours now despite promises to reply within 24.

Do you think that the "effective date" on the TOC's has anything to do with the error? My "effective date" was November 16, 2009. Maybe the system won't let us log in until the 16th or something.

I've heard that you need to have a password that DOES NOT have special characters in it. That's what I'm thinking my problem was.

ecrilcelliott is right. i took out special characters and it worked! thanks so much for help i was getting really frustrated
