Time for the DA: I media blackout....

It's very subjective, of course, but being mildly spoiled about certain things gives me a better sense of context. I don't want to know every ending to a game right off the bat, of course, but having some narrative framework enhances the experience a lot of times.
There is so much story in bioware games that it would be impossible to not be surprised at some point in the game. Replaying Origins recently resulted in multiple awesome little things I had never came across, even 4 years and many playthroughs later.

I have actually known pretty much what ME1 was all about about 1 year prior to buying the game, because I discovered it and read about all of the species in the game on the wiki ![]()
I still got to love playing the game!!
But with DA:I, I need to stay away because I haven't played DA2...

I gobbled everything up pertaining to Skyrim for nigh on one excruciating year and wasn't really ever sated in my need for ever more info. I even spent two loooong days in line for the PAX demo and that was about the only thing that quelled my anticipation as I was finally able to see the game through my own eyes and exhale in relief at what Beth was crafting.
To me, all this is part of the fun, the snooping about the web for loose tidbits, trying to gain perspective on the immense undertaking that is AAA game development.
I'm just pleased that BioWare, like Bethesda, engages their fan base and doesn't hide away ferreting away information until one day, "Poof!" game.

I admire your resolution, but I'm too curious. If DA:I had been released last year, I wouldn't have had this problem, but now I'm hooked and there are months left before the release.
Also, when dealing with video games as long as this, especially roleplaying games, I don't mind knowing a lot of things before playing. Gives me time and food for thought to prepare the characters I'm going to play as. Also, I wouldn't like to miss a companion because I didn't know they were recruitable. If I'm going to miss a companion, I want to do so despite knowing they're recruitable.

The frustrating thing is how hard it is to get details on the game - mechanisms, gameplay, etc. - without getting the story spoiled. There's no reason for these two things to overlap in previews.

Everybody on this site is on a media blackout! Bioware hasn't really revealed anything big! Not from their mouths at least.

I don't mind because I'll forget most of it once I'm actually playing the game, though I did manage to avoid completely spoiling ME3 for myself in the way that JeffZero did.

Godspeed OP. You are a stronger man than I.

Knowing what was coming with those original endings actually saved me a lot of frustration, I think, although I'll tell ya, those other few who knew ahead of release alongside me... we share a kind of unbreakable fellowship, being the union of users who watched the calm before the storm as BSN, ignorant to what was to come, busied itself collectively complaining over relatively small things.

Farewell OP!
I will remain here and be as alert as i've always been. I'm really not bothered at all about spoilers no matter how big they are. Especially since ME3's pre-launch period where i read everything i could and even read the leaked script and was part of the group that knew ahead of release. It saved me a ton of frustration and i still could enjoy a lot of the game. It's like when i play the game my mind wipe itself from spoilers and that they only return after i've left the system of choice. I knew a lot of the big plot points of ME3 but that didn't stop me from really enjoying them.
So if you feel like you need to have a media blackout to fully enjoy a title then you totally should do it. I'm the complete opposite and we'll in that case meet on the other side!

Well they tried that with the PAX demo. Just showing gameplay without a hint of the overarching plot. Maybe they will continue to do this. I mean even companion reveals don't spoil anything besides you knowing who you can recruit in the game.

As for the actual promo material, I will watch/see/read it all.
If there is some kind of story leak, I'll try my hardest to stay away from the forums. I felt hollow when I accidentally read some major spoilers for ME3 after the script leaked. Absolutely enjoyed the game, nonetheless, but that feeling of coming across a major spoiler or two was horrid.
As I live in the UK, the game will most likely be released a few days after some other regions. During that period, I'll try to stay away from forums/comments sections completely.

I'll probably join you in a month or two, if I think the character descriptions are spoiling too much.
I admit, I followed the development of this game far closer than I have most before, largely because da2 was not as good as I had expected or hoped, and I wanted to give the series another chance but also make sure I knew what I was getting into before I purchased. I'm glad I did, what I know so far is more than enough to convince me I will enjoy the game.

I'll be neither avoiding nor plunging into spoilers/extensive pre-launch info. If I hear them, I hear them.
I'm really only looking out for a couple details really, anomalies in the noise ![]()

I'm not sure whether or not I want to be spoiled on information.
On one hand, I really wanna know who the companions are.
On the other, I don't because I wanna be surprised.
Knowing me I'll probably absorb every single spoiler possible while still saying I dislike spoilers.

Spoilers don't concern me or affect my enjoyment of a game unless they are something like
-the ending
-some huge shocking reveal that you otherwise would have been stunned by
I want all the juicy gossip and info :3

I do tend to enjoy games more when I go in completely blind, but I also really enjoy reading things about and discussing the game before it's released.
Since reading and talking about newly revealed Inquisition things is a really fun way to pass the time when I'm bored I'd say its worth slightly spoiling some aspects of the game for.
