Play ME3 as Ashley/Kaidan? Would create different relationship dynamics with the crew and NPCs. Ashley and Wrex's first meeting could be interesting if you had her ready to shoot him on Virmire. Nobody from ME2 would have any connection, but I guess if Shep has to die for this to happen there's nobody left from ME2 anyway. Same LI possibilities?

Yeah, I could go for that.

It would have been a very interesting game to say the least. Or maybe, the VS could be the C/O of the ship and the player started the game as a new graduate of the N7 program (I really just want to run around as a Fury in the game).

Well, it's possible to finish ME2 without recruiting Tali at all, so they still could have brought her back for a Shepard-less ME3 as someone who'd be likely to work with Ashley or Kaidan.

The Crew of the Shepardless Normandy:

the VS

Liara

Vega

Javik (if you bought the DLC)

EDI

Wrex or Wreav depending upon what Shepard did in ME1 in charge of the Krogan.

No peace possible between Quarians and Geth.

Canon LI = Liara because everyone else is dead.

Samantha, Steve for bonus LI

Yeah I did a playthrough kinda like that. It was not as fun.

Since it's all supposition anyway, who's to say we wouldn't have different new crewmembers? Prior to ME3 Kaidan was in command of a squad of biotic commandos. High-risk mission kinda people. Ashley's new brother-in-law who was KIA somewhere, maybe he could be part of the crew instead. Those two guarding the door to the war room, maybe they could go on missions.

Lots of possibilities, plus I'm sure if they were actually going to do this, they could create a romance with Vega for Ashley, and maybe one with Dr. Michel for Kaidan.

It would have been the excuse they needed to add a Batarian. We really should have had one on our team during the trilogy.

Kaidan would beat the Predator, I think. He's already experienced in killing cloaking enemies, and with biotics, tech abilities and so forth, so he has the upper hand. That is, he does until the Predator rage quits and activates his suicide gauntlet of doom, does an evil laugh and does a Virmire Redux.

lolno.

First off, source for underlined? And second, he has one, maybe two biotic attacks until he's spent and if that fails he's minced meat. Also he can't do **** against the plasmacaster and possibly the smart disc if it travels at a lower speed than what kinetic barriers get activated at. Come to think of it, the net and thrown spear would fit that bill as well.

I reckon Garrus and Kaidan are the most capable officers aboard the Normandy.

Because Garrus isn't Alliance, I'd have Kaidan command the Normandy after the war. He's capable, higher ranked and older than Shepard.

He only needs one though: Stasis. Barring that, a neural shock would put any organic down for a spell I would think.

Now I want to know what other missions he's been on. Chakwas in ME references his many commendation.

Hmm, he looks pretty alive to me. Do you mean he's undead?

If he can land it. Pretty big if.

On account of biotics in general I'm willing to say that whoever is more prepared and/or has the element of surprise will win.

Kaidan still sucks though.

X/O battle royale!
Garrus vs Kaidan vs Ashley vs Miranda vs Jacob vs Liara! Winner takes X/O quarters!

I'll even throw in James.

Nah, Liara is way too introverted to be a leader and Jacob can't handle anything but a small squad. James is an ignorant moron and way too hot headed and reckless.

I think that's a front James puts on as he himself led a suicide mission on a collector ship. It might be more of a case of he lost everything once and refuses to trust himself to be in charge again. And I thought Jacob's bio was that he's led teams before. He was a Cousair and part of the 232 brigade. Plus he was head of security for TIM. I'm sure he's capable.

Thing is that James is pretty ignorant(the guy knows almost nothing) and is way too risky. Jacob is more capable, but I don't think he's capable of being an XO. Second in command would suit him better.

I thought X/O was second in command. And James is considerably more knowledgeable in his movie. Kinda like Kai Leng

Officers and enlisted can be friends.

While fraternization is frowned upon it can and does happen. Also presumably they would have been in different units, considering Vega was a grunt and Cortez was a fighter pilot. In practice fraternization generally only becomes an issue when it occurs between officers and enlisted in the same unit. While I was in the Marines (and a Corporal) I dated Navy Lieutenant. She was a dentist however and not in my unit, so no one cared.

Ditto. I dated an Air Force Lieutenant when I was in Korea as a Specialist. Granted, we never told anyone about it, and we worked in completely opposite sides of Osan Air Base. She was an Administrative Assistant to the AG of the post, and I worked in the S-2 shop. She's a Major now, and I'm a 1st Lieutenant.

Not as much as Ashley. I've given you an in-depth assessment of why Ashley is an all-around terrible option to even bring on the Normandy, let alone survive Virmire.

Could you imagine her loyalty mission in ME2?

Though I would have liked to have brought Kaidan to Grissom.

Yeah, I meant "third in command"

Yeah, James is in his ME3 role reduced to a bland figure that's supposed to be identifiable for new players.
