So if we're dong full romances...
 
Liara 100%. She's as close to my dream woman as I've seen in a video game. She's intelligent, initially seems a little naive and vulnerable but shows amazing resilience, determination and aptitude as the series progresses. Though I have nothing against Ash or Kaidan, they did nothing for me in ME1, so she's basically my only choice there. After the pain of her-stand-offish nature in ME2, Lair of the Shadow Broker redeemed her romance by being hands-down my favourite DLC in a Bioware game. Finally romancing her again in ME3 was excellent (at least right up to the ending.)
 
In the DA universe so far my favourite is the Morrigan romance. I enjoy how you slowly begin to find the human behind the snarky façade and it's great how in retrospect it's clear that she had been desperately trying not to get too close as she knew what was to come with the dark ritual.
 
I also have a massive soft spot for Bastila, as she was my first Bioware romance. I was emotionally torn when she turned to the dark side, and ecstatic to win her back to fight at my side. I came to that game as a Star Wars fan having never played a Bioware game before, and left with my idea of what storytelling in a game could be forever altered.

Ouch, I forgot about Bastila.

As in a personal quest or as in a whole romance sub-plot in a game?

u can hate the romance but still like the quest itself. My example is alinore from dragons dogma. Literally just a damsel in distress cliche but her rescue mission was so freakin fun. From carrying her like a princess while fighting guards and meeting up with ur companions to the escape route...but man was she a nothing character

Can we broaden it to loyalty quests?  In that case (and I so wish it could've been turned into the start of a romance) it would be Kasumi. I love that whole quest, from how you meet her to sneaking around at the party to the vault with all the ridiculous artwork to her over-the-top ninja shield-disabling moves and finally the heart-breaking scene with her lover's memory store.

Does anyone have a favorite romance quest? I made. Thread about that awhile back but I'm curious what this threads favorites are. Doesn't have to be a. Iowans game.

 

For BW games?

 

Let's see, played KotOR first...didn't like any of the romances there.

 

Then I hopped back and picked up BG2..really liked romancing Jaheira (thought all the other options sucked).  This was probably the first BW romance I fell in love with (even though it was buggy as hell lol).

 

Jade Empire:  Silk Fox all the way (first f/f romance for me)

 

Mass Effect is all about Liara, Liara, Liara!

 

Dragon Age:  Lels is pretty epic but I like both Isabela/Merrill as well.

 

 

I don't know which one is my fave...I can't pick.

I just watched the crafting demo from PAX AUS, and I have to say that I'm beginning to wonder how many hundreds of hours it will take me to play through Inquisition. When looking at people's reported playthrough times of Bioware games I'm always up at the high end of the bell curve due to my need to explore everywhere and pick up every last resource. Couple the vast size of the maps with the complexity and depth of weapons and armour customisation and I can see one playthrough easily eclipsing all the time I have logged playing DA2...

I've never done the Isabela rivalry. I like being irresponsible dorks with her too much. But from what I can tell, it's the most appealing rivalmance. Fenris's looks ok too. Not dissing on people who like them---we all have different perspectives---but to me the Anders/Merrill rivalmances look awful, like kicking puppies.

YESSSS the crafting video. My Cadash is going to be so plaid and make everyone wear plaid and they will be the most obnoxiously bright colored plaid group and it will be garish and awful and I will love it. PLAIDWEAVE SUPREMACY.

I think the problem with a genderbent Sera is that there are already so many dudes in the game, and only one lesbian.

I tend to like genderbent male to female when the source material doesn't have many women, and the dude isn't gay. Or when the dude is an interesting trope that female characters don't get often--like a genderbent Loki is great because lady tricksters!!

So someone genderbend draw Cullen or something, not Sera.

(Not that I'll hate someone who does it to Sera but that's the appeal to me of genderbent art)

My Bioware romantic history:

 

BG2 - Anomen - since he was the only option for girls (I have never played Haerdalis mod)

 

KOTOR - Carth

 

SWTOR - Lt. Felix Iresso

 

Jade Empire Special Edition - Silk Fox. However the game kind of broke and I ended up with Skye - even though I didn't flirt with him at all.

 

ME1 - Kaidan

 

ME2 - Kelly

 

ME3 - Samantha, Kaidan

 

Dragon Age: Origins - Leliana, Gorim (such a shame he wasn't a full game LI)

 

Dragon Age 2 - Fenris, I flirted with Talis

 

I think my favorite ones were Leliana and Kelly. Samantha was great too. Kaidan was the best one of the guys.

 

Also I had a fantastic sismance with Isabela in DA2 and Liara through ME series. Merrill was for me like a younger sister.

I prefer Liara's just because of that one scene in the citadel dlc. That silent stare + the piano music... the result is  me actually swooning in real life and in front of friends

Gorim/Aeducan OTP 4eva. Still not over it. Never gonna be over it. 

 

When I learned that Gorim moved on I was so angry that I refused to finish Aeducan's playthrough.
