I'm glad we agree Lady Hawke sounds much cooler than "Generic US Marine DudeBro Hawke"...

I also prefer female characters, despite being male myself.

You know...

If you're going to stare at some characters butt for nearly a hundred hours, it might as well be a female character...

Plus Commander Sarah Shepard had by far a superior voice compared to any DudeBro Space Marine Shepards...

Might possibly have given one of my Femhawkes the name "Lady". Could perhaps have called one "Tera". May have called a Dudehawke "Street". Couldn't say for sure...

But did you ever name the dude 'Mike'? *runs away*

Totally on board with the small print.

Same.

I don't know why but this has been a BioWare thing for a while now, where male protagonists sound dull and emotionless 90% of the time, whereas female ones tend to have a much richer range of voices/emotions.

Seems like Inquisition will be no different.

I seriously don't get this "Generic US Marine DudeBro Hawke" attitude.

He looks nothing like a generic male hero.

Its also quite disrespectful to the people that play a malehawke.

I thought he was referring to the VO's. I don't think the argument has anything to do with looks.

If its the VO then I think his argument makes even less sense.

But hey, what do I know right? I'm just a guy who likes his own gender.

I know there are some who were fine with male Hakwe/Shep's voice and I'm not one to judge, but I genuinely thought their female counterparts were consistently better. This was especially evident in the Mass Effect games. Jen Hale did a phenomenal job as FemShep in all three games. Part of the reason I kept playing as her despite my 'canon' being a MaleShep.

Obviously nobody knows about DA:I yet, but from what we've seen, it looks like the female VO's still have the edge. Won't stop me from playing as a male, though.

Well, Shepard was quite literally a generic marine, no? :P

But yeah, the metaphor probably doesn't work for Hawke if we're being technical.

I don't think Mark Meer came across as a generic marine. When I think of that I have an image of Jason Statham in my head :P

He actually literally stated he was trying to come across as a soldier/marine in a few interviews. I'd say it worked!

At least with DAI they didn't pull the Shepard and Hawke route with the female nowhere to be seen...... except in trailers.

There's one more trailer coming out, maybe it will feature an Inquisitrix hopefully.

I eventually just got bored and named one of my Hawkes "Sirrah."

Everyone already calls you that in game, might as well make it official

Male protagonists are everyday bread these days.

US Marines form a big chunk of the protagonists.

Generic US Marine DudeBro.

Just because being a male Hawke.

There's absolutely nothing "generic marine dudebro" about male Hawke to me. The reason I didn't like him was that he sounded like "generic RSC luvvie actor".
