Welp, so. erm.

 

My case for rats & Sera:

 

They're everywhere and considered vermin, even though they are very resourceful and trying to just fend for themselves...much like the common folk that Sera supports.

 

They're highly intelligent but squeaky and cute, just like Sera.

 

They're "different" enough that it would appeal to her hipster sensibilities.

 

Somehow rats don't strike me as "cute". So do we have the plague and rabies in Thedas?

Wow, checked the thread to find quite a few pages of discussion. I do feel the need to comment on something that bugged me tho:

I'm all for getting into a game's world but I think getting so into it that you let it offend you in real life and then you start applying it to real world rules you've went to far

That's a pretty shoddy general statement. Going by this, If a game had exploitative depictions of LGBT characters for example, and I find myself offended by that, then I am going too far?

It's more of a modern AU question, to be honest, because the concept of having pets (Anders excluded, but he's a bit of a weirdo) probably wouldn't be as prevalent in a society where animals are more utilitarian than anything....so I'm going for a lovely, sweet, cute, plague free rat for Sera.

-just caught up with the thread- well that was certainly.... interesting. I didn't know we had our own resident hater.

 

So for Sera's pet.... Hmmm I can see her as having quite a few. a squirrel, a cat, and an otter. (don't ask why the otter, it's a present from my Qunari Inquisitrix, she finds them cute.)
