Kevin has ventured into Dragon Age: Inquisition and recounts his time creating a character, vanquishing his enemies, and even fighting dragons.
Andrea Rene spends a few hours in the Hinterlands. Find out how she feels about the game’s scope and characters so far as this epic RPG nears release.
Wandering around massive zones to find portals is one of the side effects of this push for more exploration. Another is a surprising mechanical change: the character you're controlling can now jump. This small tweak opens up a ton of options as you explore, from tiny platforming puzzles to sneaking your way up a mountainside that may have been impossible to scale without vertical movement.
The game provides many reasons to explore, and most of them earn you bonus experience and more power to your cause. That cause, by the way, is the titular Inquisition.
One of the main problems with DA2 was lack of open areas, and the linear nature of those areas. Inquisition turns that on its head. It takes place in a semi-open world — you choose which area you’re going to send your party next — but each area is a large open space for you to explore and uncover its secrets, while being harried by randomly generated mobs of enemies.
You might now be thinking, “Well, that’s still sort of how DA2 was, really.” But I’m telling you, these areas are massive. Honestly, I got a little lost. The memory that sticks out most from the outdoors maps of DA2 was one map that was literally just a circular path that you visited repeatedly which — at most – had little side areas that were meant to be “off the beaten track”. This is nothing like that. There aren’t even any paths! Inquisition just gives you an open area with stuff in it and is like, “Go nuts!”
I was one of the lucky few at EA’s event to test the game on PC (instead of PlayStation 4), and the first thing that struck me was how unbelievably good it looked. The graphical detail on Ultra settings is jaw-dropping: everything from the particle effects, to the lighting, to the textures looks incredible. It is easily the most visually astounding RPG game I have ever played.

Pray for Christ's sakes, pray!
It will be a female Inquisitor! It will be!

Count your blessings. You could have found out what happens in the last 6 hours of DAI.
One of my posts just got eaten up by the site, it seems...
Anyway, I was saying I think the new vid will feature a qunari.

How about a DSR Precision DSR 50 Sniper Rifle and an H&K G36?
I have successfully taken the battlefield... all by myself!

Well that would have been a lot worse.
Nice 10th post ![]()

I'd rather carry a McMillan Brothers TAC-50 on my back... Proven by the Canadians.
The G36 isn't a bad choice, but the HK416 taking inspiration from the M4 platform minus the flaws is far more moddable. Pretty much any western piece of kit I find will be compatible with the 416. Good luck if you accidentally end up with a G36A.

Well you already took the best gun... you left me with crap...
At this point I'll be surprised if we see Inquisitrix get another trailer, unless they do double launch trailers.
Disappointment.
It's Warriors that do nothing for me. Tanking is dull and two-handers... Meh. I don't want to be Conan the Barbarian.
I'm hoping with the active defense mechanics (guard, counters etc) replacing the standing there with a massive defence stat tanking will actually be interesting this time round, and suit switching between attack and defence more.
As a fan of hitting things really hard I like the idea of two-handers, but BioWare's insistence on making them drunken oafs carrying surfboards is putting me off. Playing a female elf might offset that a bit, we'll see.
I know. It's pretty hard to beat my good taste in firearms, right.
Anyway, I'm calling a SIG Sauer P226 before anyone takes it.
Because sidearms are a nice thing to have.

I prefer to play a clever/sneaky character, rather than someone who hits things hard, but to each their own. I'll see what handling Cass, Bull and Blackwall is like and maybe roll a warrior in a later playthrough, but I'm pretty sure that my first two will be as a mage and DW Rogue. Not sure of the order.

Yup. Made in .357SIG, .40S&W and 9mm Luger.
The only variant with a suppressor mount I found on the official SIG Sauer site is a 9mm though :-(
I don't know! IT'S JUST SO COOL!
I know, right! COOLNESS OVERLOAD!
