Sera is going to be the type of character you'll either love or hate. Same with Vivienne.
True, but it's possible to dislike a character and yet find them compelling. I've the feeling I'll be that way about Vivienne, for sure.

Errr... I just wanted to say that I really like the character of Sera, before reading the last couple of pages of this thread, which was an... 'experience'...
I won't comment on that whole genitalia thing, but I prefer Isabela over Aveline. Why? She's much cooler and less preachy.
Ah don't worry. As with any thread this big, we go off on odd tangents now and again.
Welcome, anyway! We're generally very friendly here if you don't get too judgemental. ![]()

This story keeps getting better with every chapter, nice job Cat! I'm loving the "fluffy" parts of it even more than the "steamy" ones (not saying that the latter parts are bad, far from it!). I'm secretely a sap and I love me some blossoming romance.Don't tell anyone.

Having said that, I think I'm going back to bed. I don't feel well at all.
Snore well Stella ! *Hug* hope you get better soooon !!

Morning everybody!
So... Isabela vs Aveline... It's interesting, totally understandable but ultimately a little saddening to me that people would identify so strongly with one or other of them that they'd dump the one they didn't like and never get to experience their ultimate reconciliation. As a "neutral observer" I think that they're both equally mean to each other at the beginning, but I can quite see how if you feel an affinity to one, you'd tend to forgive her outbursts and blame the other. That's human nature, and something that it's really tough for us to fight against, however open-minded we might try to be.
I've said it before in this thread, but I'd reiterate that Aveline and Isabela one key thing in common; they are are strong, capable and independent women. That they have such differing personalities and and outlooks on sex, personal relationships and duty goes to underline for me what I understand about human psychology in general; there are much stronger variances in personality traits within one sex than there are between sexes. The idea of gender roles is so patently ridiculous to me as it's only founded on the vaguest of generalities. Yes you might get slightly more men who are one way, and slightly more women who are another way, but in the end, male or female we're all different.
It's when we expect/demand that others behave like us that friction and conflict arises, and that's why it's satisfying to me that Isabela and Aveline seem to come to respect and accept each other by the end. They are very different versions of what a strong woman can be but both are completely valid. That to me is the point of their relationship
As to X-Com, yes the new version is simplified compared to the old, and some people shout "dumbed down" but I still really enjoyed it. The older games are certainly worth checking out if you enjoy a challenge, though.
I'd say that there are considerably more than five regular posters in this thread, but I don't take our page count too seriously, either. We're active and chatty and that's great, but it's not a race. I'll take part in the celebrations of a numerical milestone, but it's all in fun. Let's not be antagonistic to fans of other characters. That way madness lies.
Did you play the new X-com with expansion ? hey did you find the Exel? Hum...or watever they are called..soooo much like Cerbrus lol I mean..sure they are different . But when I saw them..and were called Cebrus..thats how they would look
*Shrug* I love both Bela and Aveline . And in the end...i loved their dialogue , y'know that moment when aveline ask Bela how why some stuff dont bother her . And bela tell her that only she know who she is . Wich make Aveline stand up and do the same....best Awww moment between the 2 !

I got X-Com soon after it came out, played it through twice and haven't played since. Haven't played any DLC or expansions. Maybe I'll have a look again in the far future when I want a break from DAI... ![]()
Aww I got the expansions ! they are worth it . They add lot of content and story ![]()

Well good thing game is coming...hate will be left behindddddddd and Oblivion is AHEAD!!! EMBRACe IT!!!!!!! ![]()
Huge amounts of hate like that are utterly pointless and do no one any good. I understand that some felt Liara was treated exceptionally by the writers and that their favourites were short-changed. In that case you should focus your anger on trying to rectify the lack of content for your favourite character, not being mean to the fans of the one that actually got a decent story.
I feel the same about Cullen in this game. I personally don't see the appeal of the character based on previous games, but I'm not about to go around harshing the buzz of his fans by spewing hate at them.

What? Sorry, I've been told to cut and stick stuff in my lesson and I'm not supposed to be using the internet but oh well, I'm bored and I'm a rebel. Anyway.

What... now?
Eh, I doubt Sera will get much hate as Viv. Snob/arrogant characters tend to get more hate in general.
All in all, I hope none of them will get that much hate to the point of getting hate threads and all that. The Liara hate was so frustrating.
Vivienne seems really divisive in that favourite companions thread. She seems to be in both a lot of people's favourites and a lot of people's least favourites. Personally, I'm just glad that the news she isn't romanceable doesn't seem to have seriously affected her popularity.
I have no idea what it is about my post that you don't understand.What... now?

A character doesn't have to be a romance to be likeable. ![]()
Varric and Aveline are pretty much likeable in the fandom.

I'd just like to point out that I would in fact like it if I could run my hands through Varric's chest hair.

Heck, being a romance does not equate the character being likable either. Alistair, Morrigan and Anders have plenty of haters.

Oh yeah sure, but considering she was already pretty controversial, I was afraid that more people would jump on the 'She's going to betray us all!' bandwagon. Its pleasing that her fabulousity and sheer BAMFiness has won over people, (especially in that new CGI trailer), since I'm confident she'll be my favourite companion in DAI, potentially the whole series.

As a Cullen fan, trust me, I know about the haters.
But the romanceables usually have a nice and dedicated following which helps balance things out in my eyes.

We'll get to know them more in few days.
Then we'll see people's reactions.
