I never understood why people insist that you need Anders/Wynne, though. A mage with heal is fine. You don't really need all the other stuff in Origins or DA2...
It's because of what Ashe said, some people got too dependent on healing

Three for me. Gotta have Cass around to annoy her. Team Last Nerve take the field!

I guess... I literally never took Wynne anywhere except on her personal quests, because as Ashe also said, she was like a nagging grandmother. I still ended up with huge stacks of unused healing potions...
I always have a mage in my party, out of habit mostly. Even if i'm mage too.... mages can be pretty useful in combat.
I'm glad that the game allows for enough flexibility that I don't have to take a mage with me. I can choose my party based on their personalities then.

See I'm a little conflicted on this. I agree with the sentiment, but I also do want to have to consider tactics when I'm choosing my party.

You still do. You have to account for what your party can and cannot do. It might be a little trickier with some combinations, but still...

I'm sure I'll mostly still end up taking a mage because... Well... Big twirly firework-sticks are cool. ![]()
Don't you need to have one of each to get past obstacles?

No, that's the MP

I do miss my DAO triple ranger parties.
But there's no ranger. ![]()
Oooo, love it.
No, that's the MP
What of the smashing/unlocking/lamplighting?
No, that's the MP
True. But who knows what is out there in a world. Perhaps there will be a need for a mage to unlock/dispel, etc in the SP as well. Can't wait to play this game!
Love that poster!
Bit harsh on Lukas to have a Sera poster and give the writing credit to David Gaider, but what can you do?

There should be considering all the wilderness and animals and rangery stuff in the game.

Wow I didn't notice the name XD
I never used Wynne, Anders or Merril unless it was their companion quest, Morrigan was always in my party in Origins and I always use Velanna in Awakening and my Lady Hawke was a mage so i never have used mages for healing, I use them for damage dealing.
Not exactly. Mages warriors and rogues still have exclusive ways to unlock stuff (bashing walls, building bridges, unlocking doors and chests). It's not as relevant as in MP though.
Oh right, forgot about those ![]()
