Fuel for those wanting to believe Sera is really Briala?
She looks too young to be Briala. From what I got, CelenexBriala was a long lasting relationship.

I don't think she's Briala.I'm not even sure where it's coming from , to be honest.
The fact that they are female elves with a bow?
Briala was out of touch with the city elves and the Dalish , she didn't understand their frustration. She saw the world from the point of view of the powerful. She was working for the " greater good ."
She spend years whispering in her lover ears to get what she wanted.
They have nothing in common , at least for me.
I know I should feel sympathy for all the guys out there who wanted to romance Sera as their M!quisitor but I have this gleeful sense of vindication in my head;
"HAH! Now YOU get to know how I felt when I found out Tali was straight!"
What's sad to notice about companion threads on BSN, is how people tend to mostly focus on the romantic side of relationships. But there is more to Bioware characters. They aren't static, one dimensional mobs only there to comment on how awesome you are and willing to get in bed with you. As far as I like the option of love interest being there, I always have had a preference for those who are usually not possible LI. And if you notice, in Bioware games, those are usually the popular; Shale, Wrex, Varric, etc... The simple reason is that people don't have to focus on stuff like romance and thus, seeing and enjoying them for the value they bring as partners through a story. Enhancing it by their personalities, opinions and decisions. And that's, to me, what's really matter when it comes to companions.
If Sera is indeed a female only option, it doesn't matter. I will sure as hell bring her with me when I use my male inquisitor. Bonding with her as a male is an option too. Sure, it might be different from what you had hoped, however, it doesn't, in anyway, reduce her value as a comrade in arms. If we only get to be pals, then so be it. We'll still work as a team and share a great journey through Thedas.

Someone suggested it somewhere because they both have freckles. ![]()
I really can't wait to get to know Sera and the others in the game. They all seem so damned interesting with their backgrounds and stories.

The sad this is that actually this have often not been the case. The most egregious example is Ashley from ME3 though there are shades if it with other characters like Jack, Miranda Jacob etc. I desperately wanted Ashley to be a s/s LI and was bummed when she wasn't but the thing that hurt the most was that there was literally nothing to talk to her about besides introduction and romance stuff. It was horribad to the point that words can not describe.
So lets hope that Bioware has worked to correct those problems and have Sera and all the rest be deep and interesting companions to bring along whether or not you can or choose to romance her.

Well said.
She seems like an interesting character, and a character doesn't have to a be a potential LI for the player character to remain interesting. Hopefully the friendship (or rivalry) paths are just as rewarding as the romance path.

I think Dragon Age is pretty good with this in general.
Morrigan had an awesome friend path if not romanced.

Very true Dragon Age is certainly better about it, nothing as bad as ME3 but still the occasional issue.

I'm bored so I'm making random guesses: If you don't romance Sera she has an unrequited crush..on Cassandra.
She a lesbian okay. I still don't see why some are upset. But, with such little information on her personality I can see people being taken for a ride. If the fact that see is lesbian hurts you that much you could just make a very masculine female character, turn the volume off, and play with subs. In the big picture her sexuality is a little thing compared to the whole game. People got mad in DA2 because everyone was bi, and now you sad cause you got what you ask for. You cannot argue for realism in fantasy/fiction and be mad when you get it. If you want romanticism you will need to make it with your mind or read someone's fan fic.
Ehhhh Im done with a gay Sera.

I was perfectly content with DA2's system, so am I allowed to be sad?

And if I want a romantic relationship with her, the option is always there when I use a female inquisitor.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that a character has to be a love interest to be enjoyable. I very much loved Tali for her character despite not being able to romance her as my FemShep. However, the whole "unrequited love" thing was almost tearing me apart! Sure, I could roll up a MaleShep just to romance her, and I did but...it just wasn't the same. Paragon FemShep will always be my personal BestShep, the character I more or less lived through in the game, so it just left me with this sense of jealousy for people who could romance Tali with their "main" character.
I prefer that some characters are straight, bisexual, or homosexual personally, and the player character can't alter those interests if he or she doesn't fit their type. And I say that as someone whose Inquisitor would probably have pursued Sera had she been straight, bisexual, or *gasp* playersexual. It makes the universe feel more real, IMO.
On another note, since my Broquisitor will be in the friendzone I hope Sera will end up romancing some other character. One of the things I liked about ME3 is that some unromanced characters would end up with other characters, like Ashley and Vega in the Citadel DLC, or Tali and Garrus in the main game.
I was hoping for Sera to be a romance option for both genders and she was supposed to be my main LI. Oh well, now at least I know who my Female Inquisitor will romance. ![]()
Sera still seems to be the most interesting character among the companions so far, so I'll definitely have her with my main Inquisitor regardless. Her friendship path should be quite entertaining, too. ![]()

I really liked that system too
But there are trade offs? Like, your 2/4/2 idea is looking more and more likely ![]()
And, personally, it is exciting to finally have a face and name for our first ever lesbian companion. Now that this is an actual reality, that fact means more to me then I thought it would.
Yup Sera is confirmed for Femquisters only and this was revealed on Heroes of Cosplay and by Dev Mark Darrah.
Oh no... There was no female elf to my male elf Warden, now there is no female elf to my male elf Inquisitor? Oh man, the elves will vanish from Thedas...

Is anyone really surprised she's an SS romance only?
Is anyone really surprised she's an SS romance only?
What's the SS stand for, I'm confused.
I have always been interested in Sera. Even if she wasn't an LI at all, I still would be interested in Sera. She'll be in my canon party playthrough, first moment I get the game. Sera, Vivienne, Cassandra, and my Lady Qunari Mage.
Won't lie, I'm disapointed that Sera will not be a romance option to male inquisitors. That being said, the fact that Lukas wrote Aveline (who became one of my favourite characters of all time), and is also the one writing Sera gives me hope that Sera will become a new favourite of mine.
Now I'm just gonna go cry in a corner until Oct 7th ![]()

Same-sex.

Yes, actually. I was really hoping to romance her as my male Inquisitor.
I certainly didn't expect her to be straight, though.
