DOA had no elves for straight dudes either. Maybe bioware thinks straight dudes ain't into elves.

I would want Solas to be straight since we haven't had a straight male elf yet. It would be like for the first time in forever, the male elf is straight. For the first time in forever, he's not bisexual.

If I remember correctly, you can get with a straight female elf in Neverwinter Nights, and male Hawke can also get with Merrill.

Part of the reason i'm so disappointed, the only time an female elf has been an option is in Da2 and Merrill was far too childlike.

Nah.  More likely they burned through their quota of elven ladies for straight dudes to romance in Baldur's Gate 2 (spoiler alert: all of the LIs for dudes were elven women).

Don't see why all the fuss is about over Sera being gay. While I can understand that people are disappointed that she isn't available for male players to romance, I really need to ask, is the romance aspect really that much of a vital aspect to a character to you? Or are you more afraid of "missing out" on content?.

Well said and I think this may apply to many who are complaining. I was pissed at first, but considering how BW have handled friendship in recent games (most notably in ME3) I have faith they will deliver, and hopefully I can have a total "bromance" with Sera

I'm going to interject here by pointing out that a single pairing is not going to be a factor between whether or not a species goes extinct or not.

 

I'd prefer to not continue down this path of thinking that we're anti-elf and facilitate their genocide because we don't let one particular character romance one particular elf.

I think in early development, she was supposed to be playersexual, but they change it with the extra time. I guess it's an unfortunate effect with set sexuality.

I think it's understandable for people to be disappointed, but maybe not so much if they're swearing off elves and refusing to even talk to Sera.

 

Set sexualities are a good thing, they're good for representation. Happiness. Pats on the back all round. Let's not fight about it.

I think people are taking things a little too far. If you want to romance her to the point where you refuse to acknowledge her if you can't (I won't even go there. Ugh...) then play a female. I get the impression that Cassandra will be heterosexual, so the same will apply for her. If you want to romance her, play a male. It's not that difficult a concept to grasp. I get that people are disappointed, but let's not take things too far. I was disappointed that Aveline wasn't available in DA2, but I still spoke with her and she still ended up being my favourite character in the game.

 

I don't believe that a character's sexuality should define them in any way, but I for one am happy that each character has their own sexual orientation. But whether or not I like a character stems from pretty much every other aspect of their character, and has nothing to do with who they want to sleep with...

That's just the start. Wait and see what will happen i f they'll reveal every LI and their sexualities. Expecially in the case there are six and not eight romances.
I'll personally grab some popcorns and enjoy seeing the forum going down .
