being blunt is not what he was being in THAT review. that is originally why I happened upon his channel and stayed...until that review. I cannot see someone saying those things and not inherently being homophobic. why would I support him? rhetorical question. I'm not judging anyone that does, let it be known....

...I am side eyeing doe because I'm Kasumi and you can't see it anyway thanks to this hoodie.

I never saw his DA2 review so I wouldn't know.

Wonder if I should now...

I'd watch alot of reviews myself before buying a game. DAI is the first game in a long time where I'm pre-ordering, I'm very reluctant to pre-order games in general.

That scene where he played up Anders coming onto a male Hawke was over the top and kinda homophobic, it wasn't that big of a deal in game. Some guys did freak out over it though. "Dude put your shirt back on and he rubs his nipples", really Joe.

It was fairly creepy and it came out of absolute nowhere from their point of view, though I don't think he played it for offensiveness, but for laughs. I think AJ's main point was DA2 lacked a lot of straight romances for male players, which is a perfectly valid and truthful observation.

Welp DA2 romance system it was a free for all, everyone was available, except for Seb for males. I hated the everyone is bisexual system in DA2 myself, happy it's gone back to set-sexualities.

Angry Joe did not have access to a different build, he (willfully or unintentionally) ignored the clause that said he couldn't show the prologue. All reviewers played through it. The damage was done and he's a big name, so BW retroactively granted him exclusive coverage of that.

...also now I know why people dislike AJ beyond stylistic reasons, so thanks....I get it more. ;)

Lol "straight romances". The romances were still there, straight or bisexual. He could romance 2 ladies.

Isabela is exactly what most males want, except for maybe the strong and capable part.

Just as valid and truthful.

I've seen people say they would never want to romance a bisexual character, so maybe that's what was meant?

...I also find that super gross and personally hurtful, so I'm not defending it.

God damn now I watched his DA2 review again... I still don't like his style. He makes a few points I'd agree with, and a few that i wouldn't about the gameplay and story, but that bit about male NPCs hitting on him... I can see that he thought he was being funny, but if he didn't realise that it was going to come across as homophobic to people... Well let's just be charitable and say that I don't think he thought it through.

And the bit about the female companions... Aveline's a "barbarian He-Man woman." Isabela is a "Pirate sl*t who I don't want to romance because I don't want my character to get STDs." Merrill is "a very weak pixie female elf that's a mage." Again he may be trying to be funny but comes across at best as "wah wah wah I didn't get the 'normal' pretty girl I wanted!"

Well, everyone's got personal preferences. I'm not picky with sexual preferences myself, but I don't see anything wrong with people not wanting to romance bisexual, homosexual, or heterosexual characters. Everybody's got their own tastes, and AJ didn't like the fact that there weren't any heterosexual characters for males to romance, which I can totally understand.

Not being interested in someone doesn't make you a homophobe/biphobe/heterophobe nor hurtful and rude. It's not like he said "I hate bisexual people!", he was just saying "Why aren't there any straight women to romance?", which is valid. You aren't required to have sexual interest in bisexuals or homosexuals to not be labelled biphobic or homophobic.

Above all that really he shouldn't have to apologize for any jokes or comments he makes. Hypothetically, even if he insulted bisexuals and homosexuals, that's his own business, his own humor, his own content. It doesn't mean you to have to support him and it doesn't mean he's right, but it doesn't give you the position to tell him to do otherwise. Just ignore him and move on. Comedy isn't something that should be apologized for.

What possible reason could someone have to not want to romance a bisexual character that isn't biphobic? Serious question!

Edit: obviously given DA's history of not having exclusively gay characters , I get why someone would prefer to have a gay LI....but that's different...

They don't like the idea of being with someone who's attracted to the same sex? It's really not that hard to believe nor is it rare.

I suppose some just want a straight romance, no blurred lines just straight. IDK, my only options as a gay player were bisexuals. Pretty happy to get a lesbian character in DAI. Bisexual and gay, different experiences.

Last game I preordered was Grid Autosport...wasted 45 of my euros in it. Before that it was Saints row 4, and before it was Mass effect 3, and both games were worth every penny.

If they dont want a relationship with bi's thats no problem everyone has thier own reasons or etc, I doubt its a deep dark hatred for bisexuals
