Sigh. Game's almost out and I *still* don't know what race I should romance Sera with. I've narrowed it down to qunari, human and elf... It was originally only qunari vs elf, but now I kinda want to roll human too after BC's fic...

Oh maybe it's just my photographer's eye, but to me there's certainly quite a lot of difference in how the shadows and lighting look, especially the dynamic stuff, but the level of detail in the environment seems very high even on low settings, so it all still looks good. It seems that frostbite truly is good at getting the best from the available hardware!
These effects must be very subtle, because I can't really see a difference.
Which is ok as far as I'm concerned, I'm not much of a graphic junkie anyway...hell, I still find Infinity Engine games good looking.
I didn't watch all of it but the outlines of characters were broken up and the environment textures seemed to be noticeably lower quality. Overall it wasn't a huge difference, but then I imagine it would be more obvious when playing the game fullscreen as well.

Yes, i'm surpised the female is that tall. I was afraid they'd make her slightly taller than human... and ended up being even taller. I'm so happy. 
There is no wrong way to romance Sera, for she loves all! Provided all are female.

Gives me hope that I can still play it with decent graphics. My PC meets the minimum requirements but not the recommended ones (about 50% there 
). Honestly, I thought it would look worse than it actually does so I'm definitely relieved.
They confirmed that last names would be used (Trevelyan, Aadar, Cadash and Lavellan). Some people will call us Inquisitor, Herald of Andraste, etc.
I'm guessing lovers will use a nickname/petname for us.

I like having the sort of dynamic where they're slightly opposite tho. So with elf there's city/country elf, with human there's commoner/noble and with qunari I figured making a qunari shyquisitor with the voice of AWR would be cool, plus it would contrast Sera's brazenness.

The major differences I can perceive is the lower-resolution assets, along with the aliasing and low shaders. Everything else looks fine to me. Hell, parallax mapping is even employed on Low.

Yes the aliasing is obviously very different, but that's to be expected, I think. The lower-res textures still look pretty damn good though.

I second this notion. Sera will be the character for my Qunari.
Looking some more, there are some issues with draw distance on low. Also there's a scene where Cass's armour is covered in blood spatter and battle damage on ultra, but is clean and new on low. In that scene the differences are more obvious, but still the low settings are more than acceptable.

The blood is supposed To be a toggle.
It's likely disabled / fades faster / doesn't appear on as many characters on lower settings as well though. Taking things out is one of the easiest ways to boost performance.

I think they said clothes would get dirty too. That's probably another detail reserved for high settings.

I mean, its probably gonna be similar to Low settings on the PC, but still, I'd actually like to see it.
