One thing I'm personally looking forward to finding out is how advisor romances compare to companion romances in terms of depth and content. That is something I've been curious about for quite some time now, in part due to the issue being discussed right now.

it was kinda uncool but i think it was in harmless humor..

I meant people who accept LGBT. They don't have to be LGBT themselves. Those who can't accept it are the minority. The worlds changing, and it will happily spit them out.

Romance is probably sorted out in Skyhold only. There might me flirting or general comments among party members on travels but I doubt there will be much romance development outside of Skyhold.

Bioware already made a game where queer LI were important to the main plot (DA2) and a series where they were (Liara), so honestly I don't think that argument of "acceptance" is as strong(still there of course). This is honestly the reason I was kind of sad about the lack of all bi romances, even though I do think diversity is a better design in theory...if in reality it ends up with bi/gay characters shoved to the side again...then it still has a lot of issues.

it was sooo much fun reading those comments from those who tried to translate russian text from the screenshot. especially when "muzhik" (like "tough manly dude") became "pupsik" (like (often ironicaly for grown ups) "totally cute little one") in one of the "translations"

well, Traynor's arc in ME was good (esp in citadel dlc). our companions probably will talking about PC romancing one of the advisors since we can't have an adviser in our party. but hey advisors are going with us in some quests, right?

What's still likely? That companions get a "larger" romance arc than advisors? Well I think that's a given. All romances are going to have something unique, they will all have a satisfactory arc to them. But Advisors, obviously will only really get a chance to develop within Skyhold. That's why I'm thinking all romances will develop there to give all off them an equal amount of time to actually "feel" something for them.

I actually didn't think Sam's arc was good at all, though I realize that it did appeal to some.
 
I know what you mean about advisors joining us for certain quests. I've thought about it but I don't know if that's much to go on; it just depends on the execution of said quests more than anything.

Yeah, that's I meant. Romance-specific content will probably be more restricted to Skyhold in the case of advisors, thus giving the impression of less content.

Traynor is my favorite LI of Mass Effect, but I think she's a prime example of what we're afraid of. It is, however, unfair to compare her & Steve to the adviser relationships in DA:I because they were new LI introduced in the last game of a trilogy....Cullen/Josie will be on equal footing with all the other LI in terms of our Inquisitor not knowing them before the game starts, so they'll be able to (in theory! remains to be seen for execution) have the same amount of depth of relationship, even if the content is delivered in a different way

I'm not saying her story was shallow or boring or anything like that. My complaint is that it wasn't 'plot critical' as you put it. Morrigan has the dark ritual and that adds a whole new layer to her relationship while Alistair has 'get the crown' or 'make a heroic sacrifice' as a choice. Nowhere in Leliana's and Zevran's romances did we have anything anywhere this heavy.

 

That's my problem with those two. Otherwise their romance arcs are perfectly sweet and fun. It just seems a bit unfair that the straight romances are the only ones that get tied to big plot events.

 

I actually don't want Sera to be a plot critical character because that really increases the chances of an unhappy ending.  I'm happy with her just being in my Inquisitor's party and supporting her all the way without any über major consequences!

 

And on the topic of how much depth has been possibly put into all of the romances, I remember reading that every romance got an equal amount of resources put into them and no romance is shorter, shallower, etc. than others. They just differ from each other, obviously. This could of course turn out to be untrue but I'm an optimist!
