I have trouble playing male characters unless they're gay, so I know how you feel. I'll have no problem creating a lady for Sera, but that's because I'm always able to play a lady without any issues, regardless of sexual orientation.

At the same time, I'm quite glad that she's a lesbian. It's nice to see some of our preconceptions about how Bioware handles writing gay and bisexual characters be changed.

Not sure if this was posted but this one is for you, Hina/Sasha <3

I'm still out of likes from yesterday. I'll like it when they reset.

Well, if we don't see a happy lesbian couple in the background somewhere, I'm sure someone will remind us that Bioware still hates lesbians.

Or something like that. It's been awhile since the last thread of that nature.

You could always give it a try. It doesn't hurt, and getting to literally walk in someone else's shoes can be interesting/fun experience.

Lmao.^ I'm pretty sure a video game character experience is far removed from the actual human female experience. I've no issue with how anyone chooses to game but FOR ME the Idea a slipping into the ROLEplay of a Female never really was interesting. Unless you're a pixel perv who likes to undress all their companions AND that would be entirely lame.

I'm so glad she was involved in E3. I think she was really underrated and there was hardly any art of her going around, I'm guilty of it myself, but I have a whole new appreciate for her. ^_^

I think it depends on how and why you play games, for me it is in some ways about Wishfulfillment and so I always play as a male.

To me, it's mostly my lack of imagination. I can't think of any good male protagonist concepts for DAO or DA2. They all suck compared to my female ones. They had "something" that just clicked for me. That's all that drives me to create a character.. some intangible concept element. It's no different than drawing. Sometimes I come up with a concept and then realize.. wait.. this would work better this other way.

Other games, it may be different. ME, Kotor, Skyrim, etc.. all males.

You haven't tried it, but you are pretty sure? What if you are only 'pretty sure' because you don't know what it's like?

Let's think about it -- when you play male character in DA games, is your experience "far removed" from actual human male experience? If not, why do you believe it's different when your character is a woman? If yes, what's the problem with playing equally unrealistic character of another gender?

I think this is definitely appropriate after today's news! <3

I didn't think I'd like playing a guy, but then I tried out a Male Hawke.  Turns out I had fun with it.  While I will play women 90% of the time, the other 10% is a lot of entertainment too.

I know definitively that Cullen was not added because people were asking for him to be a romance.  There are people, internally, that like the character too and wanted to do more with them as well you know.

I think what I meant wasn't that Cullen was added because of the fans, but he was added after the push back to make give everyone a set sexuality, meaning that if there were only 2 LI per gender, one of the bi options such as Sera was changed to gay. Being a fan of Cullen, I'm happy for his inclusion, but I'm just wondering if Sera was changed because of him and another LI addition in order to give sexual orientation is what I'm getting at.

What specific elements of your concepts exclude the possibility the character in question could be a woman, not a dude?

(i mean ignoring the first line may be "it's a dude, ok?" and moving onto stuff like personality etc)

Clint Eastwood look-a-like.

No, I dunno, It's just the way I like it honestly. But there's nothing that makes me go, well this has to be a guy apart from me wanting my characters to exclusively to be a dude. but that's not something we should dicuss in Sera's thread.

I guess Clint Eastwood fits well enough for the Warden.

At least, Spaghetti Western Clint. He didn't talk much :D

Let's talk some more about Sera's accent. It's delightful. I don't think I've ever seen someone in fantasy with it, either.

I haven't heard it unfortunately.. and I'm sort of cutting myself off from any extensive video for now.

I like it, I think it adds to her.. "Cheekiness?"

I know a girl from Lancashire who studies at the same university as I do, she sounds exactly like Sera (from what I could make from that video), she's a flaming homosexual and she's cheeky as f.

She isn't a blonde or has pointy ears tho....

My guess is we meet her when she robs us. She is a thief after all.

Her bio article on the main site does say something about her finding the Inquisition as opposed to the Inquisition finding her, so ya never know.

Going by the character profile, I'm pretty sure she doesn't find the Inquisition by accident. If by robbing, it's probably only as a show to get attention.

A sort of "hey, I heard you have this thing going, and you'll want me with you" deal. I'm thinking she'll want to give the Inquisitor a reason to recruit her.

Too much cheekiness becomes annoyance, however. Here's hoping her voice actor does a good job and doesn't overdo Sera's ego.

Ahhhh the DA: Inquisition at E3 thread has a video where you can hear some Iron Bull and Sera banter. Her voice is very cute! She has an accent, but I like it. Funny banter too.

Edit: And here too it seems! I was a bit too slow.

That depends on who you ask.

I'm not going to judge Sera and her level of cheeky just yet, October is still ahead of us.
