Sera is not dumb. She's not the most thoughtful person because she's reactionary and action orientated, but has her own kind of intelligence.. I mean I feel weird defending her so much when I haven't seen her, but I don't think she's dumb and I don't think that's fair to say. 

 

(Also Cullen is the dumb one, lbr. )

It's only speculation. Iron Bull is another solid candidate. I'm just worried.

 

And Cullen isn't a companion.

I don't think Cullen is dumb either, bad Veeia (I'm just joking). In fact, I quite like how Cullen is portrayed. Hes a bit of a badass.

Sera is no philosopher and is very spontaneous but shes far from dumb. It takes a lot of cunning to screw nobles over and get away with it. Sera is more of the self help kind of person. She relies on herself for a lot and that takes its own type of smarts.

lol, most city elves only know of the dalish as a legend. They are not even sure the dalish exist so why would you expect a city elf to know anything about the Dalish?

Ahaha, I don't think Cullen is "dumb" so much either. (Well, he's VERY DUMB FOR NOT WANTING TO BANG MY DORF) But I mean, knowing Xil's views on things, I had a hard time imagining she was placing Sera below him (missed that she had specified companions). 

 

I'm pretty sensitive to the idea of anyone being "dumb" or "wrong"....even if they have an ignorant perspective. Like with Fenris, yes, he had a very biased/distorted perspective on mages, but he wasn't dumb and it wasn't something you couldn't understand. You can disagree with someone and still respect them, you can understand their reasons without condescending to them, etc.

I was tempted to go and spray paint some nasty message on their front door but I decided it was too much effort. And I couldn't figure out what I wanted the message to say.

Cole probably fits the bill as the least intelligent companion but thats less because hes stupid and more because hes ignorant of the world and humans. I can see why Gaider says hes child like in persona.

Some of the dialogue we heard so far shows some pretty keen insight too.

That bit about the nobility needing a boogeyman so they don't believe the little people can get back at them. That's pretty smart, because we know what happens when rulers feel threatened by commoners. Massacres that's what. We saw it with the Alienage in origins. And her teaching herself to use a bow and how 'it's not hard to tell you're doing it wrong' shows she learns from mistakes. Good qualities and not the mark of an idiot.

I plan on asking Sera what she thinks of the other elves. I asked Solas his opinion on them and it was very interesting, so I'm looking forward to hearing whatever Sera has to say about them. I want to learn about her p.o.v. in life in general.

Will these characters be available to us at the start of the game or whenever we want them to be?

 

What I mean is, can I just go where Sera will be located at any point and recruit her whenever I want?  In Mass Effect you could not recruit some people such as Thane Krios or Legion until later in the game.  Will Sera be available to recruit early on?
