And I want to romance a female dwarf. But, alas, there are no female dwarves in our party. I will live, and so shall you.

It's quite important to Dalish specifically.
Sera is not dalish, and Merrill never brought up kids in the romance with ladyhawke.

Roleplaying reasons. And to the elves, that's pretty high on the list of importance.
Let me ask this: Romancing in general is important because...?
I wasn't being serious xD
I was just joking about how ridiculous I find how much elves dread losing their pointy ears and big eyes.

No, I mean the Inquisitor.
I don't know anything about Ladyhawke and Merrill. I'll take your word for it.
It's just the same thing as Dwarves though. They're both dying races. Dwarves just have other means (like the Noble hunters).

Does it have to be elves? This kind of mentality is like when a bunch of white people advocate for white purity because the white race is dying, and I'm not even making this stuff up. Even if they don't look like your race, they would still carry your genes. It's not like the Asari when the offspring is 100% Asari. Besides, it's just one couple, it wouldn't make a different anyway. Maybe because I don't care much about genetics, but there were a lot of people dislike Miranda since she's infertile also. I guess the instinct to pass your genes to your offspring is more important than love?
Elves are genetically recessive. If they mate with a human, the offspring will be human. If they mate with a dwarf, the offspring will be a dwarf.

I would like if there was a way to have "mini-romances" outside the party with people of several race and gender combinations who are not prostitutes. It would be a nice touch to roleplaying.
Elves are genetically recessive. If they mate with a human, the offspring will be human. If they mate with a dwarf, the offspring will be a dwarf.
So? Are the pointy ears that important? It just seems like a excuse for endogamy and discrimination.

Those kind of things do need to be addressed though, as ridiculous as it sounds.
Unless you want a more boring setting with just humans and Qunari.

Yes, a race's continued existence is important to that race.
I'm sure the elf race will manage without Sera.
That's not what is being discussed. The person wants a male elf protagonist to have a female elf LI. Doesn't have to be Sera.

Yes, a race's continued existence is important to that race.
But the race wouldn't go extinct. They would just lose a very minor physical trait.

Recessive, yes, but it's still a part of DNA. The genetics could also still show up in later generations. There are cases where black babies had been born to white parents, and now, they're not from the neighbors. Besides, since it roleplaying, you could imagine your elves getting with a female elf after the game. We also don't know what Bioware want to do with our inquisitor after the game. The warden and Hawke disappear, so even if there is a straight female LI, we don't know if they have a baby together if they get separate for future games.

I really like the concept of Sera, and I'm interested in all the theories that she might be Briala in disguise.
Unfortunately, if I do end up playing the Inquisitor I plan to, there will be one bow-wielding elven female too many!
She will have to wait until my second playthrough for me to get to know her and hear her banter
don't want her showing me up.

There has never been an elf born from any other coupling in DA lore. Two elf-blooded humans will only produce humans. Even an elf and an elf-blooded human, so 3/4 elf, would produce only humans.

Honestly though I wouldn't mind if this gets touched on for Sera's story.
A lot of people interacted with Zevran in Origins and walked away with the impression that DA elves are free loving hedonists. I'd like to see that debunked.

I don't think it's fact. It could just be the lack of information, we don't know for sure that an elf and a half elf human can't produce an elf. I don't think it is reference anywhere.
Another point, I don't think anyone should be forced to put their happiness asides just for the sake of the group they belong to. Just because Sera is an elf, she should not be forced to get with a male elf if she prefer eggs over sausages for breakfast.

I think it would be interesting if that is why Sera turns down non-elf Male Inquisitors.
I sure as hell am gonna try and flirt with her and I can't wait to see how she is gonna turn my Inquisitor down. His poor heart getting broken in so many pieces ![]()

I never said Sera should. I'm just agreeing with the poster who started this discussion that an elf-elf romance should happen for male characters because of this very real problem their race faces.

Because she does not like penis, very simple.
I thought she just didn't like D?
I know that. Just think it would be interesting if brought up is all. Like how Merrill had more hesitation with Male Hawke because of it.

My intention was to provide a moment of reflection, that very rarely these concepts can't be simply altered once all is said and done with "and btw, that character is a woman" and then (role)played perfectly well, just as they would if the character was (still) a man. Unless one is operating under rigid stereotypes how 'women are like this, and man are like that', but then challenging oneself to play a game that does not follow these personal stereotypes can be very beneficial and sometimes even eye opening. You know, I do this too. Roleplaying is the main reason I play these games, and I thoroughly enjoy coming up with new, interesting character concepts. Particularly in DAO, since I felt there was more to do with them there. And my (to date) three Wardens are all male. And I admit that the fact most if not all of my characters (whether in a roleplaying game or a story of my own) are male is a big weakness I have as a storyteller.
It's not that I purposely seek to exclude women. My concepts don't work that way. They are born out of inspiration. And for some reason, my imagination defaults to male, and once that is set, I find it near impossible to change. I plan on rolling a female Inquisitor some time, but it definitely won't be in my first run. I'm already working on a different concept for that.
This is admittedly not the topic for deeper discussion about it though, so dropping it here.

Merill actually does that with a male Hawke?
Interesting. I've only seen the female version of that romance.

I'm mixed race myself (white and asian). I never thought of this when thinking of elves. It just seems like a completely different situation. There's no real world equivalent.
Have you by chance had the pleasure of arguing with the David Duke types bemoaning white genocide? I can't help but see the parallels to the Dalish situation. It does make the Dalish rather icky IMO.
