There's a part of the journal named The Inner Circle. Quests there are the recruitment quests. Also, there's a vid on how to get all companions (non-spoilery so long as you do not read any of the in-game quest description text or dialogue that shows up. Light to minor spoilers if you do read it. Possibly a heavy one on the dialogue when you get to Cole, not sure, needs context) here:
