It's really interesting that people who were against playersexuality were claiming that it made characters boring because they weren't "well defined" by their sexuality, yet most of the conversation in Sera's own thread today (this is still a thread about Sera, right?) is not about her at all anymore. It's almost like her well defined status as a lesbian has done nothing but made her a focal point for the same old argument about the sexual orientation of love interests. Imagine that.
Pretty much, it's amusing as heck though.

The thing about every character being playersexual, is that then their sexuality becomes irrelevant to their character.
Which may be good in some cases, but I like that, with each character being a set sexuality, they can take a deeper look at, and talk about, what that means to them. What is Sera's life like as a lesbian elf? What struggles has she faced? Were people disgusted by it in the alienage? Or accepting? Did she have trouble coming to terms with it growing up, or did she embrace it full-force?
Of course, they may not examine this, but the chance that they might is nice.
No! No no no no no no no no no.

I was specifically referring to those who want the entire team to be bisexual. While that might offer the most potential LIs for any given playthrough, its not inclusive. It is no different than someone saying they want the entire group to be heterosexual, or homosexual.
Thing is I've never seen anyone asking for the entire team to be bisexual and LI's. I've seen people throw around the word "everybody", but from what I can tell they've always meant the LI's, not the whole of the party. And I've never seen anyone seriously ask for the whole of the party to be romancable.

I would have had my Inquisitor romance Sera if she had been one of the straight or bisexual options. Having said that, I was against the playersexual/everyone is bi (however you want to define it) model when the debate first came up after Origins, and I'm not in favor of it now. Sera being a lesbian is good news to me, even if means that my Inquisitor is now Ser Jorah of the Friendzone.
So it isn't exactly true that the people who were against a playersexual model before are changing their tune following the Sera reveal. I haven't. And I can't imagine that I'm the only one.

Isabela's sexuality was not irreverent to her character.
Please no. Please don't introduce a lesbian character to 'teach us' that being a lesbian means struggling and facing disgust.
No, it wasn't. That's a fair point.
I dunno. I just like the idea that each character has a certain sexuality, and they won't budge on it. Be it straight, bi, or gay.

The fact is people are and that's the problem. They didn't care when it did not concern them now that it does they are flipping their crap.

Or just plain old 'not interested' regardless of the gender and sexuality combo.
Back when ME2 was first released I argued against those who were demanding that Samara be made a romance option in ME3. I thought it would ruin my favorite 'romance' scene in ME2, which was ironically Samara shooting down Shepard by telling him or her, "In another time, another life."

All right. I get it. No "lesbian life is a struggle" story. Sorry. I'm a ****** idiot sometimes. I'll go sit in a corner now.

It's just the same argument of the positives and negatives of the romance system being discussed again. I don't expect that to change, and it'll once again be heavily discussed once the next DA game comes out. I'm sure someone could start up another thread about the same topic if you want to help move all the conversation about that from the Sera thread into that one.

Just out of curiosity, which specific people are doing that?

I'm not listing names because that is opening up a can of worms.

Happily accept most of orientation gating fans no doubt still are supportive. However there were as many fans of playersexuality model who no doubt feel little to no benefit and only cost.

So what do people think of Sera's accent/her banter with Iron Bull? I'm looking forward to her even more after that, I like characters with accents that deviate from American Northwest and The Queen's English.

I will say(again) that I don't have a problem with Sera being a lesbian. While I've always been a supporter of the "all LI's are bi" model as it maximizes player choices, I don't have a problem with representation.
The only thing I'm arguing against is the idea that her being a lesbian somehow adds to her character; it doesn't, in my opinion. Neither would her being straight, or her being bisexual. Her character is what it is, independent of her orientation.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that the people that are actually flipping their **** over this aren't that numerous, just vocal. Then there's the people that are kinda bummed but ultimately ok with it (or will be) and the people that are happy.

I was just about to ask the accent question myself. Northerner I got, and it vaguely reminds me of Sheridan Smith, but I'm bad with accents and can't place the location

This is actually why the argument won't really go away no matter what happens. Especially since they're moving to this new romance system after the DAII model, it's very normal for people to want to discuss the pros and cons of the systems......or in most cases, talk about all the cons the other system has and all the pros the model they support has.

She sounds adorable! I saw one of the devs mentioning that apparently her laugh is especially great so I'm really excited to hear that.
