notice how that said some and not all? hardly generalising and very likely true in the case of people who have seemed to change their minds on the issue as soon as the LI they were talking about isn't available to men.

Who are these people who changed their minds? I keep seeing that accusation being made, but have yet to see a single posted example of where this actually happened. Not that I would be surprised if some people were being hypocritical, but it is also just as likely that the complainers have always favored a model where every LI was bi or playersexual.

As someone who has always been against that approach (although I haven't complained about Sera's reveal), I find those sorts of comments slightly irritating.

I'm wondering how her archery style is going to be different from Varric's.  She uses a long bow instead of a crossbow and it makes me wonder what tricks she has up her sleeve.

She'll hopefully benefit from the fact that this time round the bows actually have bowstrings. :P

In a world with sexy blonde elves, communism would have easily conquered America.

She can hammer my sickle any day.

Iron my curtain.

Occupy my East Germany.

Molotov my cocktail.

Who was it that wrote Isabela in DA2? I need help with these.

I always got the feeling that bows were meant to be stronger and crossbows were supposed to be faster? Am I wrong?

On a slightly more serious note, I'm wondering if the lack of a quiver is just lazy game design or something else.  Like having a magic arrow ability for archers, which would be sweet.

The opposite, I think.

Y'know, I really don't think that tangent is in any way constructive, so how's about we just drop it before things get toxic again, hmm?

Sheryl is a good writer. She's doing Blackwall for sure, but  don't remember who else she's got.

@ The Elder King, are you sure? It seems like a semi-automatic crossbow would be quicker. I don't know, though; I've never done any archery.

Occupy your Afghanistan?

Fill your gulag?

Commune your farm?

Culture your revolution?

March on your peninsula?

...eh, not too good.

Like having a magic arrow ability for archers, which would be sweet.

I rather doubt that though, considering how magic ability is something you're born with and all.

That'd be my guess. The same reason that swords and other weapons just levitate near character's backs instead of fitting into sheath. It's probably pretty far down the list of needs due to budget restraints.

What I said wasn't meant as a blanket comment about everyone who doesn't like the playersexual approach. I can understand peoples' view on it although I don't share it and I certainly don't think everyone who's against it is hypocritical, which is why I very specifically said "some" and not "all".

Rest assured that even though you haven't seen people do a 180 upon the reveal of a lesbian character, I certainly have. And hey, the bioware forums aren't the only place where people discuss the game, either. I'm not about to trawl through posts to find proof so I hope you can trust me on that.

Apologies if you felt I was attacking you, but I really wasn't. I was just expressing my annoyance at a view that's unfortunately too common especially in real life, removed from the context of video games.

Anyway, this tangent should probably be reserved for another thread so I'm going to stop posting about that particular issue now.

I don't have a problem with restrictions.   I was okay with DAO.   My first Warden was male and when I got to know Alistair I started wishing that I had played a female.  So next run through I did.    So that's fine.   I get it, Sera is off limits.   The only problem is that at present I don't find either of the other options particularly appealing.   So in a way it makes life easier for me because I couldn't really decide whether I wanted my first Inquisitor to be male or female but following the revelation about Sera, that is no longer a problem.   My first Inquisitor will be female because hopefully at least one of the male companions that I like will be straight or bisexual.   As for Sera, they can just be best friends.

how adult of you

Guys, guys, please take that debate into the Romance thread so we can keep this clear for Sera goodness.

Thanks to you guys, I have this song stuck in my head.  I'm glad I like Doris Day...

Before you pointed it out I didn't even notice that she was missing a quiver. Has anyone seen if it was just her? Or if the same happens if any other character is equipped with a bow? It'd be pretty weird to suddenly forego the quiver when it's been there in the past games. Seeing as there was footage of her doing glowy stuff with a bow, maybe she is somehow magical?

Crossbows are slower and stronger. The former is a consequence of the latter. Here's a short blurb on the comparison. The crossbow is also considerably easier to learn.

That's my hope.  Of course, I love playing archers so I hope we can get some sort of spiffy magic arrow-type ability.  I picture Sera with fire arrows and smile.  Fire seems to suit her well.

Also, for all of you old school Final Fantasy fans, Sera reminds me of a much less annoying version of Yuffie from FFVII.  I wouldn't be too surprised if she was trying to "rob" the party in order to get their full attention.   Or she could be in a tavern, like the other lady rogue companions from DA thus far.
