a little pissed right now. Frankly I'd prefer the DAO approval system, at least then I could buy a bunch of gifts get the approval over with and enjoy playing the game, looking at the guide every two minutes too see if Sera would approve this decision is ruining my experience with the game. Actually, I don't even want to play Qunari at this point, I don't like being forced to play a certain race in order to just play the game without grabbing the damn guide all the time. I'm going to regret buying the guide before all is said and done.

I'm just a bit frustrated right now. I'm sure it will go away.

On the one hand...

I feel your frustration, as I had really wanted to romance Sera with my elf, and I'm not sure it's going to work.

I'm actually pretty glad that they've made characters with their own preferences who don't just automatically melt into your arms. That goes for race preference as well as sexuality.

 

I guess my opinion may get revised after I actually play the game. We'll see...

I know what you mean but it's not making me enjoy the game as an elf knowing she would rather be with a qunari or any other race.

 

I actually like this little mechanic they added.

It's a known phenomenon in real life that people will be biased in favor of people they find attractive, even if they are not involved with them. Sera being harder to please with an Elf shows her own prejudice. It might not be fun to be on the receiving end of it, but I can't fault it. It's very realistic. And how many players are biased for/against some companions for the same reasons? Maybe Bioware thought ' let's see how you like it'.

I probably shouldn't have posted just yet as I'm a bit emotional with my thoughts right now, since this is my first game it's going to be more frustrating for me anyway. My learning curve is rather steep and the first game I'm usually rather confused and get frustrated easily. I just hate that I'm looking at the guide to get the answers anyway (feels like cheating) so I don't feel that I'm gaining anything. This may be my only game as an elf so I'm damn well going to make it work with Sera, even if I don't enjoy it.

Why don't you try going without the guide? Just follow through, do what comes naturally and maybe you'll wind up with someone else. It might increase your enjoyment of the game at any rate. You're railroading yourself. Just chill and play!

 

I know I'm planning a 'trail of epic fails' session. I'm going to play a random Inquisitor to get familiar with the game, then I'll make my first real character and see who she ends up with.

So I get home to find my DVD drive won't play ball and that I have to download the game from Origin. Yeah...

I had to do that with ME3! Annoying...

Ah ! I unlocked the game on monday, only to find that it only has Russian text, then somebody found a fix, I play get 4 power, go back to Haven to go to Val Royeaux....computer shutdown.

 

The game uses so much CPU resources, that the CPU bled the power supply dry, so I have to run on 6 cores to prevent too much power usage and shutdown when going from or to Haven.

 

I'm cursed with Frostbite 3, NFS rivals forced me to buy a new CPU, and now DAI made the PSU throw the towel, I reckon Mass effect next will break the GPU, and after that Mirror's edge 2 will eat all the RAM

So, it launched. Someone entered the room on Teamspeak I was in.

 

The only sounds I was ABLE to do were why the person told me to "Grab some pills and visit the doctor"

 

Currently restarting the game, because I manually set everything to Ultra, and it needs a restart to take effect!

BioWare will apparently be launching a patch soon that addresses these performance issues so we'll see. I'm hearing reports that the console versions also suffer from some of these issues.

Apparently, every other release has subtitles, only the polish and russian (which affect others countries including the one I'm currently living in) doesn't have english text.

 

I have to swap file and use Outcome to bypass it, which is frankly shite, but at least it works.

Nah you'll be alright, the problem is that when I bought my computer, 600w was plenty, but since then I installed an 8 core CPU which is pretty brisk but damn thirsty. However since no game used it at maximum, its power usage never went over of what the PSU could do...

 

...until DAI, which just chomps the CPU's resources.
