Sigh, still didn't get my copy. D: The waiting is killing me tbh.

I've been monitoring the PC performance thread and it seems a lot of folks are having issues with the game. On the one hand, the game is both GPU and CPU extensive. On the other hand, it's also not terribly well optimized.
BioWare will apparently be launching a patch soon that addresses these performance issues so we'll see. I'm hearing reports that the console versions also suffer from some of these issues.
On the plus side it's very pretty (dem particule effect), very vast, with a lot of things going on...that does come at a price.

Can you imagine how bad it would have been without the delay? *shudder*
Tell me about it.
When they announced going alpha back in June, I was seriously wondering if they would be able to get it out the door by the original October launch window. Fast forward a month later and they announce a delay. I was like, "I knew it!"

That makes two of us. Mine is on a DHL airplane somewhere right now.

True.
Reminds me of Skyrim when it first launched. The game wasn't too heavy on the GPU side but it did require a bit of CPU power. Meanwhile, DA needs both. Woohoo!

Open worlds are notoriously hungry for CPU resources, add to that a certain degree of reactivity, all the possible dialogues, etc...
I think it does alright for a game this big at launch.

I'm shocked they were able to get DA:I to run on the old consoles (360 and PS3). Those processors aren't even capable of branch prediction, let alone having a sufficient number of cores for this kind of game.
No wonder they had to reduce the amount of NPCs and stuff in those versions.

wasn't it being made for the last gen consoles to begin with? And then got bumped to the newer ones?

As far as I know, the game was developed with next-gen consoles in mind. Whether or not it was originally meant for PS3/360, I have no clue.

I don't think we actually know.

I remember Origins had a memory leak bug that meant it consistently crashed after a few tens of minutes' play. Took them ages to fix that one...

Half an hour to go and I'm still unsure of class. I'm leaning towards Attack on Titaning at the moment...
Did anyone discover the truth about rogue crotches by the way?

I suspect open world games are often also not well built.

The new consoles were known about well in advance, I think it was always developed with future platforms in mind.

So, it turns out I can't max the game. Shame, I upgraded for this. Maybe it's just one or another part dieing on me.
Anyway, I played around in the CC for some time, here's the result:

So...
i5-2500K
8GB RAM
GTX770 2GB
Anyone with a (very) similar set up here? I need to know if the not-so-great framerate is my PC dieing or the game just being too much.

I don't think so. I hope not. I've seen them enough times.
