That doesn't mean it'll play out like that. Varric's automatic crossbow is exceptionally fast for any kind of bow, and is capable of multiple shots at a time. More often than not, he was quicker than my Hawke archer's bow. That's why I've been speculating about Sera's abilities.

Bianca is definitely designed for speed. But normal crossbows, ones that aren't super special prototype dwarven repeating ones, are usually slower than longbows.

I'm imagining Varric will probably be faster than Sera, though...

Yeah, I didn't use crossbows in Origins due to the slow firing rate.

 

When it comes to Varric, experience will do that, as well as having a weapon specifically made for you.

From what I remember from awhile back, doing things like those rolls will be a part of the actual game play and not just a cut-scene power.

As I recall, though I don't have a source, it's supposedly a warrior ability, and not something you can just use liberally either.
