I have a certain feeling that I'm boned, then, given that Sera hates anything related to magic or elves, and the decisions about them I've made thus far...

Yeah, better not do her romance since you love mages and elves... she's going to drive you crazy. In a bad way. :P

Heck I'm playing a moderate mage and she still argues with me over everything. XD Gotta say I love her spunk, though. It took me awhile after lots of disapprovals bc of how I played this character, but eventually I got to be her friend. Worth it lol.

I had the same problems but managed to tumble with her after much pushing and taking approval in other areas not related to glorifying Elves and scary magic.  There is a ton of approval to be grabbed in the "here lies the abyss" quest and also some personal quests for her. She is hard to make happy sometimes though lol. Doesn't like anything that glorifies Elves or Nobles, Doesn't like magic or demons and her religious side is very confusing she's kind of religious but doesn't like glorifying the chantry. You can get approval on some religious things but disapproval from others, She's like Morrigan or Wynne in Origins you need to jump through hoops to please them.

I'm surprised you're even trying with Sera.

Suffice it to say that I'm confused and conflicted. Despite the fact that Sera wound up proving all my worst fears and more about her (seriously, she's almost as bad as Fenris on magic, and actually worse when it comes to elves; who the hell would get mad at me for saying that I was going to be a good example for elvenkind, you lunatic woman?), I find myself strangely attracted to her nonetheless.

Or maybe it's just because Josephine's romance, which I started first, feels a bit bare-bones. I mean, we never even got a chance to date, and we didn't have battlefield bonding time together either... I just did the House of Repose stuff, and we're making out in the garden like ten dialogue options later. Not that I would break up with Josephine; I reloaded an earlier save from before I started the romance for my Sera hypothetical.

Oh yeah, I remember the 'example for elvenkind' comment.  It's funny that if you play a qunari/dwarf and say 'example for qunari/dwarf' it will net positive approval for her.

I feel like Sera's hypocritical about some of her views on magic/elves (Dorian even calls her out on the magic thing by pointing out how she uses it in combat).  I felt the same about Fenris, though his is a blind hatred of magic/mages whereas Sera's just scared shitless by it.

I still think it suits her character as it would be odd (and feel contrived) for her to be comfortable around magic and mages considering she's representing a viewpoint on magic that the common-folk of Thedas possess.  She's also never worked with mages in her 'profession' though I wonder how she becomes a Tempest.

I still think she's an enjoyable character (and romance) as long as you're okay with her and your Inquisitor not always agreeing on things.  Though, if you're playing a pretty hardline Dalish culture elfy-elf it's probably not going to work out.

Finished the main story last night and wow what a ride...BEST BIOWARE GAME EVER! Better than Origins if you ask me. Sera and her romance was everything I hoped it would be and more, funny, sweet and adorable. I have one more whole area to explore but I've decided to do a human female mage playthrough and do some things different but still romancing Sera.

Sera is nothing like Fenris, Fenris hated mages and everything that had to do with them, Sera doesn't hate mages magic just freaks her out is all, my female human warrior allied with the mages and even though Sera disprooved she still loved me. My mage however is going to go after the templars but disband the order which Sera approves of

Define "hardline" in this case; I'm not sure if my Inquisitor fits.

not really according to the guide she is just cautious of the expectations of a elf x elf pairing, for some reason Qunari females get a 2 times gain on flirts with Sera where humans and dwarves get normal gain while female elves get minor gain

A Dalish traditionalist (believes strongly in the Creators, that non-Dalish have lost their way, etc.)

Sera's views on many things are an experience she's the view of the commoner in everything. She's doesn't understand complicated politics and things of that nature and really does not want to. She's scared of the unknown so anything to do with magic and demons freaks her out. She's not used to fighting magical monsters and going on an adventure. She heard all these amazing tales of the Herald of Andraste and her Inquisition trying to save the world from the terrors of the Rift and wanted to join up not knowing what she would get into. It's interesting because i don't think Bioware has ever made a character quite like her. She doesn't have some particularly dark past of amazing adventures to speak of. She's pretty much very much an average Joe who can use a bow pretty well. Her reactions sometimes seem childish but i think it's mostly that she gets angry at things she doesn't understand or that scare her.  Figuring out how to not make her angry can be annoying but i think she's a pretty interesting character the sort of commoner that becomes a heroine and not a kind of pretend one that plays pranks on Nobles and kills a few slimeballs.

Both true, though she doesn't blame city elves for being such, just that there are truths of the past that need to be found, and that elves shouldn't just let themselves be assimilated by humans (in an overall cultural sense, not an attempt to dictate the actions of each individual elf).

I completed Here Lies the Abyss (worst ****** boss fight in the entirety of Bioware's library at the end, by the way; "cutting down on stuns and alpha strikes," my ass), but haven't done anything in the Emerald Graves, Emprise du Lion or the Exalted Plains yet (or the Fallow Mire, come to think of it) and want to explore those places before hitting the Winter Palace.

On this run, I've decided to stick with Josephine. And talk to her as much as possible.

Yeah and I see her as someone who's been on her own for most of her life without any close friends/relatives/whatever.  I think that her somewhat odd way of talking can be attributed to how she probably hasn't had many 'normal' conversations with people.  Sera's beliefs seem to be coming from herself and what she's experienced as I don't think she has ever had much of a chance to have them tested against other people's beliefs/opinions (and have them possibly affect and change how she views the world).  I think that lends to her being close-minded on some of the topics she feels strongly about but not without cause (cause magic can be scary and a lot of politics is bullcrap that gets innocent people killed).

Well really her experiences are all she has to go on. She likely never had much of an education apart from what friends taught her and much of that was probably just things she can use to get by. I don't think her conversational skills are abnormal she's just a bit uneducated and immature since she likely never had too many adults in her life to teach her right and wrong but through that she's able to see people as people and doesn't like when somebody tries to be more than people like demanding special treatment because of what they are be it somebody of a Noble title or demanding land because they are an Elf. The negative side to it all is that she views the world very much black and white with little room for grey areas. The only grey area I've found so far is her religious beliefs. She believes in Andraste and the Chantry but not Templars and the politics.

Ugh I'm finding both f/f romances in this game to be thoroughly disappointing. On the one hand we get crazy and immature and on the other utterly boring and safe. I'm romancing Cullen now as a last resort.

I don't think her conversational skills are bad or anything but it just seems like she's not used to explaining her ideas to others.  She just doesn't seem to have much of a filter with what she says and I think part of that might come from not having a lot of other people to talk to.  Most of that might just come from her personality but when engaging others in 'normal' conversation, you'll learn what to say and what not to say and how to say it and I think she's lacking that as well.

I have to say that on first contact I was really annoyed by her attitude but after more time and conversations it's slowly getting better. pre lunch after all the vids on companions and such I was interested to see the chatacter and the personality involved but after our first meeting I as think something along the lines of "You know what lass, I think me and you are going to have alot of issues". not so much anymore thankfully

Becuase they made up to the player deciding if the pc and her had sex or not?

My progress was blocked by a nasty freezing saves Bug in the hinterlands <_<. I think it might be related to a Certain location/region i the area, since I've saves a lot in the are and it never happened. Even now they work, and today I went in a new area in the region. I guess I was lucky to lose only one hours and half. Some People lost over 10 hours.
It doesn't seem to be related to a single platform, so if you're in the are, be sure to save often.
