On the one hand, there is that. On the other... I'd really worry about their future together, at least with my elven Inquisitor, who wants to go back to her clan at some point, and definitely wants to see the elves restored to glory.

Despite everything you learn about said elven glory in DAI?

Agreed. But that's where growth happens-- or doesn't. Just because a relationship ends doesn't mean it was a bad relationship. While the "happily ever after" scenario is always preferred, I think it's perfectly reasonable to assume that the moment the Inquisitor decides that she needs to go back to her clan, Sera will be presented with an opportunity to expand her knowledge and learn about the culture that created the one she loves... or decide that she can't do that and break it off. By all accounts, I assume the latter would happen. But people can grow, and change in order to be closer to the person they cherish because that person is more important to them than their hang-ups.

I didn't know **** about professional dance before I met my first long term girlfriend, nor did I care about it. But it was important to her life. And she was important to me. I'm assuming everyone knows where I'm going with this.

The trouble is that I don't know whether I would, in-character, want to start a relationship when "the latter" seemed like such an obvious outcome. Granted, the same would probably happen with Josephine... maybe I wonder, to those who've gotten farther along in the relationship, what sorts of things my Inquisitor might do to be able to win her over to the concept.

That being nothing yet for me, as I haven't reached that point in the game?

Well, I don't think your Inquisitor will actually be going back to their old life. Nor any Inquisitor for that matter. The Inquisition becomes their new home. Sort of like how the Warden doesn't go back to the Circle, Denerim, Highever, Orzammar, or their clan.

Fair enough.

The Inquisition doesn't feel like home and I don't want it to be. It's one issue I have with playing as a Dalish Warden as well, because it doesn't seem like anything is truly stopping you from returning home.

Maybe I wouldn't leave command of the office forever, but I would definitely go on an extended vacation if possible.

Fair enough.

One thing is for sure, I don't plan on anything standing in my way in regards to restoring elven power, to the extent that I'm able.

The difference between the Warden and the Inquisitor is that the Warden's life is irrevocably altered by becoming a Grey Warden. He/she is tainted, for life. The Inquisitor, on the other hand, is a figurehead. Once the breach has been sealed, the Inquisitor can choose to leave the movement in more capable hands and focus on her roots instead. This option seems rather appealing to a proud Dalish in comparison to continuing to lead an army with Chantry and Orlesian roots (both of which have significant negative history with the Dalish).

Going on a vacation is perfectly fine.  I was referring to them leaving the Inquisition forever wouldn't happen. Which is a good thing. Here is a Dalish Elf leading an organization that every power in Thedas respects. There has never been nor likely will ever be an Elf in a better position to better the lives of their race than the Inquisitor is.

Just made it to the part where you have to choose between the Templars and Mages (the quests). I just need to know which quest will give me the best chance to get approval with Sera.

Seras aversion to 'elfiness' is actually quite easy to figure out. She just hates being boxed and labelled just because of her ears and that's something I can understand. She just wants to judged as Sera and nothing else. She just is an absolute brat about it at times (blowing raspberries when Solas is making a respectful comment about the honoured dead in the emerald knights tomb is not cool, girl.....) but that's just Sera being Sera. I don't think she even knows what mature and tactful means :P   My elfquisitor gets along just fine with Sera even if they have differing world views simply because she accepts Sera as she is and doesn't preach (because , you know, preaching is a good way to kill ANY relationship) and lo and behold: my elfiness starts to be less of an issue to her

Very minor spoiler

Your elf isn't too elfy, I bet.

Actually, no.

Arianne is pretty obvious about believing in the Elven Gods, and supporting Elves where it matters.

At the same time, she's in love with Sera... and it's working out!

I know. I'm a filthy Blood Mage.

Oh bless you child, you will be so mad, hahaha.

Don't ever do the Solas romance, you may have a stroke.

So, I did it. I went back to my older saves, and recorded some of my choices there. As in on video.

I think I have enough footage of Arianne to recreate her, yay.

Got pretty much the entirety of the Orlesian bit, except a few bits, and the first meeting with Alexius.

Even recorded the dance with Sera. Well, the implied... dance...

Well from what I've been able to figure out I've still got at least one chance of finishing the Sera romance. I mistakenly thought that I only had one more quest. So I'm hopeful.

Still trying, unfortunately I've got to go to work. I hate when work interferes with my game play.

I know the pain. I had to go to school instead of being in Thedas.

Gah! I could've been in Thedas now! Not on this parody called Earth!

Oh getting there. Got her romance quest which turned out pretty hilarious since it involves chatting to all your party members some of which i had not spoken to in a while so i had to get through all their cut scenes and do Blackwall's personal quest just to ask him a question. I can imagine after everything Blackwall is like "Okay so all my personal crap is out the way thank you Inquisitor...So you wanted to see me?"   *puff pant* "Yes..." *pant* "I need to ask you a question about Sera.."   "Oh i don't know she's hard to read"  *Inquisitor jumps off a cliff*

So why the disapproval if I say that I'm going to be a good example for elves as Inquisitor?

I'm not into men. And I see your mockery and raise you my rockheaded unwillingness to back down when it comes to issues that concern me. I will not be diverted from my course.

Not sure if this has already been stated but from what I got from 'too elfy' was 'too Dalish' since the Dalish tend to (generally) ignore and tend to dislike city elves, who are probably included in Sera's definition of the 'little people' that she wants to help.

30+ hours in and still haven't gotten to Skyhold.

Next main quest is In Your Heart Shall Burn but I've been putting it off to gather power. I think I've done 90% of all the Hinterlands stuff.

Starting to feel like Skyrim all over again :P

Was wondering around in some caves when I spotted a group of Nugs. As any normal person would I butchered them for crafting stuff and I actually gained approval from Sera. This, this is why I love her character.
