I was saddened a bit with the Sera [edit]x Dalish Inquisitor[/edit] romance overall. I still like it and don't regret having done it but I can't help but feel like it was a bit one-sided by the end.

Same. I'm enjoying the story and discovering the mechanics. If I play on nightmare I'll be too busy raging and dying to enjoy myself.

I know the feeling. I had to do that at Emprise du Lion because I was underleveled. Even on casual this game can kick your butt if you go unprepared. The amount of preparation is just a whole lot higher on normal and higher difficulties.

I feel like she makes so many demands and needs so many reassurances from the Dalish Inquisitor.

 

I realise I didn't specify my Inquisitor's background in the former post, going to edit that.

 

I'm quite glad I roleplayed my Dalish Inquisitor as somewhat of an atheist, I'm not sure I would have wanted to stay in a relationship with her when she demands that you denounce your god - the core of her culture, everything she's been taught as a child - at least if I had role played her as a bit more of a traditionalist.

 

I felt like there needed to be a fight that was resolved in another manner; just having the options "ok" and "never" didn't seem fitting.

How does that scene work with an elf?

 

I did it with a human and disagreed with her and she called my Inquisitor stupid.  You can then break up with her (which is pretty sad if you pick that option) or not.

 

My interpretation of the scene is that Sera isn't sure herself if what happened there was real or not and she wants the Inquisitor's assurance that it was all 'just a bunch of demons' or whatever.  I don't think she really believes the Inquisitor is stupid for having doubts or disagreeing with her but Sera's mainly upset because the Inquisitor wasn't able to quell her own doubts.

So if you "banish" the Wardens(I really hate the phrasing of that, why couldn't I just say, "I need you out of Orlais, I don't want you getting taken over again"?) Sera gains some disapproval(and then gains it back if you keep Blackwall). Does she gain approval if they join the Inquisition? I picked that at first and didn't notice an approval gain from her, so I reloaded to see if banishing them did anything, and it ended up doing the opposite of what I wanted.

When you play as Dalish you have four options when talking about the temple and Sera says it can't possibly be real.

1. "I beleive it all."

2. "You are insulting our herritage."

3. "What if some of it is real."

4. "It was demons."

 

Now, picking the fourth option lets the whole thing go over merry and Sera starts talking about eating again, but any of the three first choices will make Sera say "Now you're going elfy on me" and then go on to demand that you say the temple couldn't possibly be dedicated to a real god, practically denouncing the religion you have been raised beleiving.

 

I picked the most neutral option "what if some of it is real," which I think fit best to my character. I roleplayed her, not exactly atheist, because even when being part of something like the Inquisition I find it hard to beleive a person is just up and ready to denounce a faith they have never had to really doubt in.

 

At that point I had role played my character to somewhat doubt "godhood" at all, be it elvhen or chantry faith, ít's not goodhood if what was once mortals like Corypheus had a chance at claiming such power. But still, she was Dalish and Sera was asking her to cast aside everything she had been taught since birth as just "demon worshipping."

 

It felt weird, even though I felt I was able to reasonably roleplay my character agreeing with her, after all at that point the gods had never given her anything or shown a sign they were something other than just demons, but I really wanted the scene, or episode, to be longer.

 

Instead it is just either "ok I'll happily denounce my gods." or "never" I wanted there to be a more neutral response that let you solve the conflict more.. realistically. I didn't feel like the available options properly reflected how I imagined my character to react.

 

When the relationship ends, Sera doesn't even want to stay friends......

 

But I suppose such is the nature of video game stories.

 

Regardless, thanks for listening.. Uh.. Reading. I'd appreciate any points you can share on this. It would be nice to discuss in any matter.

It seems she's generally the most hated character. And the worst thing, apparently the devs have known perfectly she will be hated so much, because she's the ONLY companion that you can kick out at any time. Which on its own wouldn't be a problem, but it becomes one when we consider that she's the only lesbian LI.

 

Takes away a lot from romance choice we were supposed to have when the devs pretty much make a statement that they know perfectly that they made one of 2 LIs for you possibly so off-putting that you wouldn't want to have anything to do with her after you get to know her better.

 

The ones who hate her are fools. We should eat them.
