Opps, I was just playing Skyrim yesterday to test out a mod..................................

YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT!

 

That is the one major issue I have with DA: I, the complete lack of mod support. I still play skyrim because of the ton of mods that are still coming out for it even today.

Yes sadly, i got that feeling too... Hopefully if they do a companion DLC, she'll kinda grow up as a character thanks to inquisitor influencing her (more, if romanced because reasons). Don't get me wrong, i like her, yet i feel she didn't get any growth in terms of opinions.... everyone else did. :/

 

 

Glad i'm not the only one who thought she got less material than the others.... that sucks so much. First lesbian companion in a bioware game and gets this treatment.

That's the impression I get too. I'm feeling a little let down to be honest. Oh well, I'm about to start my second game with a better looking Ragequisitor this time. (I think...)

To be fair, Sera is not the type of personality to have a lot of depth. Shes not hiding secrets, shes not holding baggage from previous events in her life. Shes out to screw nobles and have fun, if she can save the world while doing so then BONUS. It does feel like a rather childish or flippant view of life though. I can certainly see why some people are turned off by what they see as a childish brat. But I think thats a bit too hard on Sera, after all, she stays the course with Inquisition after all.

 

That said, for the first Lesbian companion, I can see how Sera can seem like a let down compared to Dorian as the first gay companion and what happens in it.

You CAN tread a middle ground, or at least I managed it as a human. You can respond that some of the things might be true, which gets "slight disapproval" and Sera calling you stupid, at which point you can ask "Will this come between us?" which gets slight approval and something to the effect of "I'm not going to break up with you just because you're stupid about this."

So, you know, it's still not great, but at least you can agree to disagree, in her usual obnoxious manner.

I also felt like she was a little underdeveloped in terms of story, but I also like that she doesn't come with a ton of baggage, elfy hangups aside. But you guys are right, it seems like you get the simplest companion quests and the least insights into the character with her. It's almost like she's a DLC character, somebody totally optional, which I guess she sort of is, considering that unlike everyone else, you can kick her out of the Inquisition at any time. It's like they were afraid to spend any effort on her in case everybody really hated her. Hopefully she'll be expanded on in DLC.

That 'elfy hangups' bit, though, seems like it should be a really major thing, at least for me. She's all about the little people, the people who are put down. But that amounts, from what I've seen, her essentially believing that elves shouldn't distinguish themselves from humans, give up everything that separates their cultures. It's hypocritical, and I"m certainly not claiming that companions haven't been hypocritical before, but there's no real opportunity for us to call her on it or see her opinions shift and change.

 

Her ranting about the Temple of Mythal proving the Dalish to be wrong was the first time that it came up in game for me, playing as a male qunari. For me, this felt like something that should kick off character development, a recurring conversational path through the game, placed at the end of a character arc. It just... it feels like if this was going to be such a major thing in her characterization, her dislike of 'elfy' things, there SHOULD have been more development. It just really makes her character feel half-realized and unfinished.

 

I will second the idea of a DLC expansion that gives her more, because as it is, she comes across as self-loathing for her own race, the kind of person who tells other people in her minority group 'stop being stereotypical' if they do the slightest thing that she considers stereotypical.

Yeah. They said long time before release that the only tie MP would have into SP would be the ability to find the MP characters around Skyhold.

 

So if you play MP, you'll go like "Oh yeah, that's that and that person!" but if you don't play MP you'll go like "Oh, another random NPC #258746!"

So, yes. You can find them. Can't even initiate conversation, though. They're there just for the sake of appearance.

Everyone grows up in life at some point, living with some ppl with different views can help her see the life in different point of view. Actually, you can make a kinder Leliana become Divine and she will manage to unite the chantry through her inspiring words. So Leliana for Divine can be a positive outcome, especially for all those who want Mage independence.

 

As for Sera's romance, it certainly seems a let down or should I say unimpactful compared to Dorian's romance arc. I can't explain why without spoiling Dorian's romance.

I think the main shame is that she was well positioned to have character growth. In her first Skyhold conversation she talks about looking to find out about, well I think it was mostly faith but it's something you can run with. Sera seems to want to be more, just runs away from it at every given opportunity.
