Or... just have Cole show up and tell us exactly what it is immediately, like he does with everyone else hurting deeply. Why he hasn't done this already, I have no idea.

So it's not ok for Sera to diss Elves but it's ok for Cole to invade her thoughts? He does it to everyone and means well, but still...

Yeah, Inquisition rank is hard-capped at 20, so you need to choose wisely as to where to spend your points.

Cole doesn't invade peoples' thoughts; he always hears other peoples' pain. It's not voluntary; it's his nature as a spirit of compassion. It also seems to have a very high success rate.

Your analysis of Sera's character is very interesting. One thing that stands out after her speeches about the little people is...

Spoiler

It's a shame we learn so little about her over her romance arc. Although there is one thing she says after her personal quest (romanced or not) that makes my ear twitch with curiosity.

Spoiler

Soo this is my first time posting on the BSN, and i'm sorry for hijacking your comment for it, i had trouble figuring out where to start because i have a lot of weird feelings about Sera hahaha

But just... everything you said basically?? I feel like with all the other characters, we got to know them. We got to know a bit about their history and figure out what made them act the way they do, even got to help them with some of their issues, and with Sera..... i'm just disappointed even though i LOVE her?

Because while i don't hate her for her views or her actions (on the contrary, i think they are interesting and i love her personality), i am terribly frustrated by how i just don't know enough to understand WHY she is the way she is?

What made her dislike Dalish? She's a city elf how did she meet them? what sort of experiences did she have with them? what made her hate having her views challenged? why does she dislike debates so much? how was her childhood as an elf growing on a human house? was the baker thing the only incident she had with elf-racism? what made her believe that the past is not important? what are her beliefs, what does she think the chantry is supposed to be like? why can't we help her with any of it???.... I could go on and on, there are so many questions, and i care so much about her.....

but i feel like she lacks depth and it's such a shame because i love what we got to see. And all of this is compared to the other characters because, we don't know EVERYTHING about EVERYONE, but given the interactions we've had with her, those questions are simple stuff about the core of what was shown us, it's like Cassandra not telling us how she became a seeker and why. It's like never getting to ask why Blackwall did that one thing........

I love her romance and her personality and i hope Lukas Kristjanson comes chat here and tell us more about her, or does something about it in future dlc, Carver and Aveline were my favorite DA2 characters and i'm still a bit confused on how this happened with Sera......

Love reading all the interpretations people who gave her a chance posted here though, it's good to see other people are also trying to fill the gaps and some of you made pretty amazing comments

I have to say, I spent a little time riding my Hart and then... Basically I don't see the point of riding at all.

I guess in harder difficulties if you need to make a speedy getaway, but still... I think that feature is just cosmetic. Riding along the sandy dunes of the Western Approach is fun though. I've yet to find any rare mounts. Sera doesn't like the smell of horses apparently (her comment how 'here is stupid and smells of horse'). I wonder how bad Dracolisks smell.

Haha! I shudder to think!

Can you summon your mount mid-battle? I've never tried. If not then as soon as you successfully disengage you can fast travel anyway...

I guess I've never been a horsey person. I prefer my pushbike. ;)

Sure, but I think it suspect for the Inquisitor to gain knowledge of Sera's private thoughts in this way.

Maybe, but you can do things far, far worse in this game and others. And Sera doesn't even need to feel upset by it, given Cole's memory-erasing.

Or..on a Fleet full of quarians....He is a Boshtet after all lol

Fair point.

Still haven't gotten the marriage option and at this point I don't think I ever will. Playing as an elf sucks, at this point I wish that they would have gated her against elf's, would have saved me a lot of aggravation. I replayed the game from Haven and got into the romance much sooner but now I'm at Mythal again and doubt that I will have a chance to get the option. I feel like I've spent over 50 hours trying to correct this one thing with no results. I should have abandoned this game along time ago but I'm too damn stubborn.

I've never been this frustrated with a BioWare game included the Mass Effect ending.

Last night my anger came out replying to a post somewhere else, the post hurt me so bad that I cried myself to sleep last night and it made me realize that I'm just not enjoying myself. So I think that I'm going to take a break from the game and the boards for awhile. I'll miss everyone here.

Ouch... Well, enjoy your break, we'll be here. You know. Waiting...

That isn't changing the fact that the Inquisitor is invading her privacy and stealing the thoughts from her head.

Also, what's the point of knowing this stuff if you can't discuss it with her?

Claim that you're making accurate guesses, perhaps. Just don't make them too spot-on.

I think the incident in her childhood makes Sera hate the fact that she's an elf. Maybe it's like "why do I have to be an elf, why can I be human so that they won't hate me" She also hates pride, hate superior. And most Dalish elf looks down on city elf, that's why she hates them. All they care about is the past, instead of leaving in the present, helping other poor city elf. She has a lot of issues, anger issue, self doubt issue... Too bad we can't solve it ...yet. I wish they'd let her grow a bit at the end of the game. Maybe living with the Inquisitor and she will help Sera understand. Well, no one ban me to use my head canon and read fanfics to fix that problem. People have flaws and I love Sera for who she is, she doesn't have to change, but it's better if she can.

If she doesn't know that you know, wouldn't she just continue to be evasive?

Manipulating her like this just isn't healthy. Let her open up on her own time.

Doesn't Cole leave the impression of his help and the necessary thoughts behind even after erasing the memory of himself? It'd remain.

Cole is a spirit and operates by different rules than pure flesh creatures.

He can make people feel better about something that was troubling and then they forget that it was he who helped.

If you're talking about getting Sera to the point where she's comfortable opening up to the Inquisitor about her past that's something different and more complicated.

Still doesn't make it right to use him to manipulate Sera like that

The problem with your approach Xil is that it's intrusive even if the intentions are good. Have Cole poke around her mind to find what hurts, have him tell you and use that to 'help' Sera heal. That reeks of manipulation. If Cole does it of his own accord? Maybe but it's still iffy. And Cole's ability to make people forget about him would probably freak Sera out if she found out about it.

As Roaming Machine said, Sera is someone who requires a lot of patience. And even if she tore down her walls, that might not make her more accepting of Dalish beliefs and culture.

Also helping someone overcome their issues so they can be happier is one thing. Overcoming their issues so they will be more to your liking is not a nice thing no matter how you do it. The basic intention is important too.

I second that. I remember a banter about Cole reading Sera's minds (or feelings?) Anyone?
