Where do you find this longbow of the Griffon though?

I haven't saw Sera's full combat potential yet. i've been trying to find her the perfect armor. crafting the bow hasn't been hard. I'm trying to determine if i'm building her wrong too. I flesh out the Archery tree and give her most of subterfuge or whatever tree stealth is in. I haven't really made it far to get the Tempest skills going. The best way I learned to build my companions is by making a character of the same nature. I gotta think on that one.

My problem with the Sera romance has nothing to due with being too elfy my elf is extremely unelfy. My problem is no matter what I do I can't get all the content that other's have gotten it seems that the elf romance is more casual and can not get the love comment (at least I haven't) which makes it unfulfilling.

 

Elaborate please. Because I don't know what you mean by "love comment" now.

The fact that the elf get's 1/4 of the approval of qunari and 1/2 the approval of humans and dwarfs has made it nearly impossible for me to get all the content. I played 84 hours to finish the game and I've played 50+ hours trying to fix the problem with no success. Making a romance this difficult to complete is kind of ridiculous to me. Instead of enjoying the game I'm just frustrated and angry. My personality doesn't allow me to start another game without fixing this one but I don't even know if it is possible to get the conversation with an elf. As far as I know they may have thought it would be cool to not have that scene with an elf, since she doesn't like elf's.

The worst thing is that I've loved Sera's character unfortunately she just doesn't love my inquisitor.

It's funny I originally was going to play human first but I thought that Sera with an elf would be cute, what a mistake that was. After spending all this time getting myself worked up I don't even want to play another race now.

 

Jib, who rolls an elf, says it's easy to romance her with elf actually. Maybe she can help you more?

 

Keep flirting with her, take her with you on missions and do things she approves.... if she doesn't approve of something, scream "ALERT!" and load the previous save. Always save btw.

 

And don't rush the story, just keep doing things, helping ppl etc.

Sera says a lot of "love" in a particular scene, also you can ask her for marriage (i think playfully or not, i have no idea ) Dani has been struggling to get that scene it seems.

Where do you find this longbow of the Griffon though?

If I remember right, it's close to the end of the game.

There are other little things you can do as well to boost her damage dealing capabilities like crafting armour with Fade Touched Ring Velvet (10% chance to activate Hidden Blades on hit), using Flask of Frost first so you get an extra three seconds when you follow up with Flask of Lightning and using a few archery talents first since one of her passives makes her hit harder with low stamina.

And if you really, really want to make sure that dragon is dead then have Cole or an Assassin use Mark of Death first.

My first character was a dalish mage, and it was REALLY obvious by the second conversation I had with Sera that this was NOT going to be the romance playthrough.  I genuinely do not understand calling Sera abusive in a relationship with a dalish Inquisitor, because the player has to ignore everything Sera says, and everything she believes, in order to metagame a romance with her.  THEN, after that, when the relationship hits a crisis point, how is Sera solely to blame?

 

I still haven't played through her romance arc, and I haven't watched all of it on youtube.  In some ways, I think I'd rather *play* as Sera than be her girlfriend.  But I find the way tumblr has turned against her so grossly to be suspicious.  People who have proudly said they either never recruited her or kicked her out of their parties after the first conversation are claiming that she is racist, transphobic, and abusive towards elves, not because they experienced it in their own games, but because they heard it from others.  And saying that I don't hate Sera, and talking about how this fandom handwaves problematic stuff from male characters, got me attacked.

 

It's funny, because I never thought I was going to be a Sera stan.  She was amusing and fun to bring along for banter on my first playthrough.  But seeing the extreme criticism, and how angry people get when you don't follow the party line on this subject, has been disturbing.  It feels like there are deeper issues at play that shouldn't be shoveled on a video game character.

Well, Sera is racist, religiously bigoted and probably transphobic, and I can tell this from in-game dialogue. I find it a bit hard to call her abusive, though, due to her being utterly unintimidating.

 

I am, however, pleased by the reaction all in all. Hopefully it discourages Bioware from repeating this.

Maybe I can't have mass rage directed at Josephine's romance issues, but I will revel in it falling upon Sera. What was done with her must not be repeated.

thats what i like about her she has believable views and its been said she cares about the now rather than x issue. Dont get the hate i find her a breath of fresh air
