I do think Sera gets held to a higher standard and is getting beaten up more. For example. Blackwall made a comment to Dorian that I thought read as pretty gross (implying he's not a real man), but people who bash Sera are falling all over him.

I do think she makes some gross comments, but yeah. Doesn't shock me that people who are so offended about her are ignoring the flaws of the straight dude. Same old same old.

No point in getting too riled up about it, IMO. You can't control other people's readings, just dialogue with them..or disengage if they won't be genuine.

I have plenty of chill. The fact that all my mages thus far have specialized in Inferno is pure coincidence.

 

 

Anyhow...I might just be strange, but i didn't really have a problem romancing Sera with my elf rogue.  I played it very elfy-elf (and i double dog dare anyone to question the pointiness of my ears ), just not very pro-mage (though not anti either) and things...just moved along. I guess it could just be that so long as there isn't actual malice involved, i live and let live. All my characters tend to share that trait  

My inquisitor first viewed Sera with the fascination one might view a trainwreck but at some point she just found herself smiling a lot because of her and that wasn't something she had done for a long time due to background story reasons (angryquisitor turned softyquisitor ftw. *insert Lelianas 'softieee' here ) From there things took their own course.There were bumps sometimes but they worked them out. In the end, 'elfiness' wasn't much of an obstacle when the grand scheme of things they complemented eachother perfectly. She told her the lie she begged her to tell when Sera was at at a point where her world was collapsing on her and they moved on (though i had to reload and tone down the rp a bit as i originally broke it off.Someone who has had the profound religious experience quizzy just had would be pretty rattled and not capable of being rational or reasonable about it so soon). So now they live in their weirdly cute normal

 

Something like this:

*quizzy tidying up her small shrine of Mythal in a corner of the garden*

Sera: That's stupid. Its just a bunch of rocks and twigs and stupid. Come on Inky, Lets go do something fuuuun!

quizzy: Yes dear. I do believe the kitchen has just finished making a batch of cookies. Would you be so kind and....

*Sera scoots off faster than you can say 'cookies!'*

*quizzy lights a little candle at the shrine, smiling and humming Sera's tavern song*

With out full out asking "yo do you want to see boobs or not?". I'm actually glad they kind of gave you the option. Because my grandpa walked in my room just as it faded out.

racism definition: the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

That's the opposite of what Sera thinks. She's against Dalish seperatism. She thinks that people are people. She doesn't like "Elfy" because she doesn't like elves being set up as different/superior. If any elves fit that description it's the more dogmatic among the Dalish.

Wow, oddly enough the BSN has reversed itself after the game has come out. Before, the Cass thread use to have the negativity but it turned out everybody loves Cass. Sera, on the other hand, turned out to turn some people way off.

 

Its just interesting to notice the sharp reversal.

Well... All we knew really about Cass before (outside of that anime movie) was that she was the right hand of the Divine and she gave lovely Varric a hard time in DA2. You see her softer side in Inquisition and that she is more reasonable than she might have appeared. Sera on the other hand, has a lot of character traits that people weren't expecting from an elf...

 

Personally I just enjoy the way that Bioware play with our expectations.
