General post, please do not taunt people for not being able to romance someone, no matter how much schadenfreude you are feeling.  Please do not attack people because they are given a romance option and you are not.

I appreciate that some are happy because they assumed that Sera would be a different orientation based a variety of reasons.  Rubbing it in people's faces is, in general, unacceptable and is a problem regardless of how romance content is broken down. (i.e. people mad because Anders was a romance and Varric wasn't, and so forth).  I can understand that some are upset because people had their hopes up.

If you're seeing people being unreasonable because Sera happens to be a lesbian, please report the posts but do not escalate the situation in response.  Or at least keep it off this board.

You just now learned that word?  Awesome, its one of my favorites and describes my sense of humor more often than not.  I just try not to be a female dog about it towards others, and I know you're the same way.

Oh Allan, a personal question if I may: Are you naturally a night owl?  I either see you posting pretty early in the morning or very late at night.  We're on the same time zone, I think.

That word made the entire German language worth it. Which means a lot coming from someone who hates German with a passion.

I've always just heard people use English words that are similar like sadist. Never that.

It's intresting how english doesn't have word for that.. I have tried find it couple times when trying to translate "vahingonilo" (finnish, "schadenfreude) to that in english.. I guess I have to use the german one then ^^

Sorry this was off topic, I'm just intrested how some languages lack some words other have ^^

Ah, same here.  Hopefully you'll sleep well and not get the thunderstorms us folks in the Rockies are getting tomorrow.

how can i be light if i have mass

Actually, light do have mass. Light has both particle and wave properties. Photons aren't just something out of science fiction. But in the case it wasn't clear, I was being sarcastic.

I know lots of people had no problem moving on from the ME1 love interests, but the only ME2 squadmate that interested me was Miranda, and since I don't play male characters...yeah, my Forever Alone Shepards really enjoyed their chats with Mordin and mooning over a picture frame before the Suicide Mission.  -__-

I don't see it quite like that. I see it as continuing the romance from the previous game. Regardless of what the achievements say or not.

But yes, I was in the same boat. I liked Kaidan and Liara, and none of the ME2 romances really appealed to me.

I wonder if she'll have a small remark if Hawke cleaned up all the streets in DA2 and finished that side quest.  Like how Kirkwall had few gangs and obstacles for the Friends if you finished up that quest.

I always found this line (from Act 2 I think) interesting.  This is when you clean up all the gangs for that act and head to the Hanged Man to turn it in:

"We like a calm city to play in.  Enjoy!"

Actually, that line is one of a few random lines. There's also "You're a real street cleaner Hawke. Our compliments." And a couple others. There's one that she always says after doing all of them, across all acts, but I don't recall what it was off the top of my head.

Personally, I'd prefer if they kept any such reference were kept to a minimum. Ideally not present at all. Most of the references in DA2 pointing back to choices made in DAO and addons felt forced, at best. Perhaps a better way of phrasing it would be that I would rather not have a reference at all than a reference that's there only for it's own sake.

It makes you look at that concept art in a whole new way and conclude Cassi is straight and also straight laced.

Protip:  Lesbians and bisexual women can be straitlaced!  Lesbians and bisexuals can also be shocked by dirty jokes even if they aren't completely straitlaced!

It's almost like they are human beings with distinct personalities and a full range of human emotions!

Oh, don't be silly.  We bisexuals aren't humans, we're snow leopards.  We went over this earlier today.  And one day the furless meatsacks will despair when the -- oops, I said too much.

I sat here for a good minute and considered posting, "She's not pining, she's passed on," but decided against it. Thank you. Thank you so much.

i aim to please

The drama about Sera isn't over yet ?  I'm more happy than ever that Sera is homosexual after having seen some ugly comments on this board, and also seeing how some guys can't get over it. There was apparently an ugly thread locked about Sera. I'm glad I didn't read it. The first female companion denied to straight players and it's a big deal. Wow. A good lesson then. The blonde attractive girl being homosexual and denied to straight guys is actually really interesting.

I guess I'm a little disappointed by the reactions. Ashamed as a straight guy to read how some guys while disappointed couldn't stay stoic. The more people rant over and over, the less I'm inclined to feel bad for them. Move on please, let's talk about Sera, you know, this elf that happens to be homosexual ( yep, deal with it )  among other things ? People knew for months there would be a companion exclusive for female gamers, as there there would be one for male players..People knew that there would be different sexualities. It's almost like they were taken by surprise. Did they just forget this point or is it a strong issue now that Sera is homosexual ? Embrace it, she's gay.

You should have been ready for any outcome with any character in my opinion. Don't. plan. anything. before any confirmation; I told you. And also it's time to move on about the playersexual system, we won't have that in DA:I. Or at least, let's move this topic in the romance discussion, it's spoiling this thread it's boring, it's previsible. I've read more pages about the debate around this system than Sera and her characterization, in the previous pages. That was really annoying.

Sera is still very interesting as a companion. I wanted to romance her with my male inquisitor, I can't, that's okay, that's interesting, I accept who she is, and that doesn't affect me in any way. There are other parts of her I can explore and that could be awesome. She stays in my party with Vivienne.

well said

Sera: "I'll be the rogue templar and you can 'interrogate' me to learn my secrets."
Cassandra: *closes door in face.*
Sera: "Hey! There wasn't even a door there five seconds ago. How did you do that?!"

this made me laugh

I was going to make rimming jokes, but those are always in bad taste.

*snicker*

"All I Wanna Do" takes me back, my goodness.  I loved it so -- still do.  Ah, the 90s.  Though I was thinking of Pink's "Let's Get This Party Started," or perhaps that is more appropriate to IB, hey.   ;)

I can almost see Sera as Pink in this.

You kidding?  I can see both of them having fun embarrassing themselves by dancing like crazy to this.  While laughing at Vivienne and Cassandra giving them facepalms at the scene.

You just know that they have to have Sera get Cassandra drunk in the game.  I could Cass really being fun when she isn't on guard all the time.

Nah, with IB, it has to be something REAL wild. So I say "Alcohol Is Free" by Koza Mostra & Agathon Iakovidis.

An entertaining twist would be the rare chance of Cass getting drunk and out-partying, out-yelling, and out-drinking them all.  ;)

In hindsight, this strip makes a lot of sense

And not just her sexuality but also the "people get what's coming to them" aspect of her personality :D

The first thing that came to mind when thinking of Sera and IB dancing like crazy is this:

And once I was in that part of YouTube anyway, I started thinking of the whole ragtag group of misfits as a whole:
