I think it's more like 50/50. I've seen enough people who love Sera as much as hate her. Not only she's probably the most hated but also the most loved.
I think Vivienne is the most hated character and doesn't get enough love as Sera does.
I dislike Vivienne's snobby elitist attitude, but I love the character. She's almost the archetype of someone who has worked themselves up from a situation of disadvantage to the upper echelons of society while remaining within the existing power structure. Such people tend to be the most vehement in their dislike of revolutionaries that came from the same initial place as them. They despise people who want to smash the system in which they worked so hard to raise their position.

Heh, i can't stand snob people either... but there's something with Viv that makes me crazy.
Maybe the way she talks? Her snarky comments? Her banters? I don't know.

My problem with the Sera romance has nothing to due with being too elfy my elf is extremely unelfy. My problem is no matter what I do I can't get all the content that other's have gotten it seems that the elf romance is more casual and can not get the love comment (at least I haven't) which makes it unfulfilling.
The fact that the elf get's 1/4 of the approval of qunari and 1/2 the approval of humans and dwarfs has made it nearly impossible for me to get all the content. I played 84 hours to finish the game and I've played 50+ hours trying to fix the problem with no success. Making a romance this difficult to complete is kind of ridiculous to me. Instead of enjoying the game I'm just frustrated and angry. My personality doesn't allow me to start another game without fixing this one but I don't even know if it is possible to get the conversation with an elf. As far as I know they may have thought it would be cool to not have that scene with an elf, since she doesn't like elf's.
The worst thing is that I've loved Sera's character unfortunately she just doesn't love my inquisitor.
It's funny I originally was going to play human first but I thought that Sera with an elf would be cute, what a mistake that was. After spending all this time getting myself worked up I don't even want to play another race now.
Not really sure how to say this beyond, that my first playthrough was a Dalish Mage, but I got everything in the Romance.... it might have something to do with teh fact that I played as more of a Dalish curious of the world, rather than being up tight about everything, she approached the world with an open mind. -shrugs-

Well she's very clever and witty. She's an absolute master of "the game" who can put people down with effortless ease. That's why she's such fun, even if you don't actually like her.

I LOVE Vivienne, but not all of my characters are going to be her best friend. That's cool. And when it comes to fandom reaction, I find that the people who hate on her are the same ones who decided that her "attitude" was unacceptable even before the game came out. Haters gonna hate. But I don't see people making things up, exaggerating her faults, or taking random unkind things she might say (and she's very good at being unkind), and condemning her on the whole for those remarks. Plus, Vivienne can take care of herself.
Sera, however, brings out my protective instinct, kind of the way Carver did when he was one of the most hated characters in DA2. I see Sera as relatable and her anger and rudeness as believable. I still haven't done her romance, so it's really not about that, but when I saw the game itself telling me that I can kick her out every time I talked to her, and I saw how most of the other companions really hated her, and then I saw the fandom backlash...yeah, it feels like I'm being told that angry young women with no tact are inexcusable and shouldn't exist in fiction (especially if they're the f/f romance option, apparently). And I think characters like Sera are just as valid as any other.

So is anyone getting approval or disapproval just doing regular quests, I only seem to get these on the main quests and companions quests. I thought I would get approval when we killed a dragon but nothing and I don't seem to get anything for helping people. I wonder if my games messed up.
Did you know that you get approval from Sera if you flirt with Scout Harding when opening up a new area? I've had that twice, now...

IF Danielle game is bugged...does that mean she can use an old save ? Or have to start all over ?

I really wish console commands were known, so in situations like this you could just raise approval manually. I mean, playing the game as intended is always best, but if you can't get to the content you spent 80 plus hours trying to unlock, it would be nice to have that option.

Uncle, that's one I knew about. Harding's always going to get my flirts.
I don't mind playing over as long as I feel that it will help. I just wonder if I would be better off starting a new game and recreating my same character. I just hope this isn't an Xbox one issue, I'm hoping it's just my game. If anyone is playing Xbox one and get's approval for regular quests I'd appreciate hearing it.

I've definitely had approval from other characters during regular quests. Most recently for me when I told the elf what happened to her lost brother in the Exalted Plains. I'm trying to remember if I've had approval specifically from Sera. I think I have, but I can't swear to it.

I've been getting approval fine on Xbox One, as far as I can tell.
I just think it's stupid how the game doesn't display an approval meter like Origins. There is no practical reason I can think of that would necessitate omitting such a major mechanic.

Well at least now I know why I've been having such a difficult time. I may just start a new game with the same character and see if that helps.
I agree about the approval meter it could have saved me a lot of frustration.

The approval bar gives you feedback about what your companions think of you. Your companion's dialogue also gives you feedback about what they think of you, so on paper at least the bar is unnecessary and draws attention to how your companion is basically just a single variable and a handful of plot flags.
I think the main problem is that tracking a dynamic character on a single value is always going to lead to whacky behaviour.
