I wonder if they thought about making her hair like this but blonde

Considering those are DA2 concepts, I doubt it. Even her earliest concept art showed no signs of it.. but maybe.
Yea I know. Just a random thought lol

Thought about? Sure. But they just didn't fit. The middle one predates DA2, and was part of a proof of concept style thing. None of that party even had names other than "elf", let alone defined personalities. Cool, though. The far right actually is an early Sera concept, but before Rhodes had a handle on her. Never really suited her, though. We went back and forth for a while. I was fine with any number of hairstyles, so long as it stayed simple. Sera doesn't have patience for complicated. ![]()

If you don't mind me asking, just to make sure, are you the writer for our lovely Sera? I'd love to put the author's name in the OP.

He is. Gaider confirmed he was when he talked on tumblr of the concept of the tavern with Sera, Cass and Blackwall.

I think it's cool that you're introducing a gay character to the companion and look forward to getting to know and romance her.
I've noticed that Sera seemed to be positioned as the voice of the common people. Class warfare in Thedas has previously taken a backseat to noble politics, religious and ethnic conflict, and the mage problem. I suppose that's understandable as pre-Enlightenment/Industrial societies wouldn't have the socioeconomic theories or technology that enables any sort of solid 'movement' among the lower class.
Anyways, do you see Sera more of a reactionary - she knows there are problems and haphazardly helps or sticks it to the man - or more of an actual revolutionary with a coherent concept of what's wrong and a vision for a better world?

At least one version of nearly every elf I've seen had that shaved sides top-knot style, and none of them have ever made it past the cutting room floor. If the haircut's available it'll be the cut I give my elf inquisitor, in honor of those lost designs.
Here's to the top-knot successfully making it into the companion roster next game.

mmmmmmhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I disagree with this, especially considering that you put 'ethnic conflict' in there as being more common than some sort of class-based identity and antagonism
I do think that it's underplayed thus far in Dragon Age games, but I think that that's not because of the nature of the setting as Vaguely Medieval Stuff and more because the writers just haven't really touched it yet. There's no shortage of examples from medieval European history to pull from, most famously the jacqueries. There's a legitimate complaint to be made about "Marxist Goggles" to be made about a lot of things in European history, such as Kleomenes III and the Roman bacaudae, but with jacqueries and things like the Thessalonikan disorders of the 1340s you can definitely discern something vaguely approximating class strife in there.
We could have a related argument about Marxian doctrine with respect to old canards like 'class consciousness' and whatnot, suggesting that those things weren't Things until the Industrial Revolution, but I'd argue that they aren't even Things now, especially not in the sense that Marx and the other ideologues probably meant them, and that revolutions historically haven't been matters of class consciousness anyway but rather of more mundane things like military pay arrears, failing infrastructure, battlefield defeats, and economic depression.
I also don't agree with your definition of 'reactionary' - which ought to be 'somebody who is trying to turn back the clock on Progressive Social Reforms', which are things that by and large don't exist in Thedas and if they did I strongly doubt that Sera would be in favor of rolling them back - but the general idea of "does she have a plan or not" is certainly an interesting question.
But anyway. Sera, the Oppressed, and Dragon Age.

Oooo, a Wild Luke has appeared! Aveline is one of my favorite vidja game characters, in my top five, and I am grateful for her. I'm really looking forward to seeing Sera, and doubly so to see a lesbian character, and a romance option, and that you're writing her. All combined, I am confident it will be glorious. ![]()
Think of the mayhem, Sera.

I did not use reactionary in its proper, political theory sense.
I also specifically explained what I mean and I doubt my use of it confused anyone who read the sentence.
My apologies to the linguistic proscriptionists who read my posts, but perhaps a more descriptive (dare I say populist*?) approach to word use is sometimes appropriate given the character we're talking about.
* Because that's not what populist REALLY means.

Oooooh, Luke wrote Aveline? I hope this means that the chances of Sera and the Inquisitor getting into a fistfight and laughing about it over a pint later are high.

I think the angry or concerned face she had in the trailer is not the most accurate impression, making her seem very serious. She's reactionary. With the good and bad that brings, the whole "what's right now" bit. Like I noted in the written character teaser stuff, she wants things back to normal for her own reasons, which isn't compatible with a hardline change activist. And she'd have probably gotten frustrated and leaped out a window or something halfway through yours or Eirene's posts above. ![]()

I almost feel bad for Cassandra and Vivienne. If we can have a snarky personality like Hawke, Sera and I are going to have a lot of fun.

No need to get serious and defensive, I just wanted an excuse to talk about history, and SOMETHING IS WRONG ON THE INTERNET makes the best excuse.

I missed this earlier, but that would be fun to see. As long as I didn't have to just hear about it and got to see that unfold in-game. The cat fight, as well as partaking a pint.
I'd love a pint with Sera and Varric. She just seems like the kind of person that I would get along with and reminds me of some of my friends from Back In The Day. Plus, I think Varric and her would get along quite well most of the time.
I picture stuff like that and I get excited all over again. My favorite BioWare character, and the companion I'm the most excited in the upcoming game, becoming good friends? With me joining in the fun?
Yep, I'll take it!
