Playing as a lover of all things elfy in this game was both interesting and also pretty painful, those truths man, tragic but also fascinating. And whoops sorz bout the spoilahs, thought most had the game completed by now. 

 

Well from what I gathered it's easiest to romance Sera with a qunari, then human and dwarves are on equal footing then her own race is limping behind. LMAO man looking back on my run how the hell did it stay afloat, all I seemed to do was argue and make up with her.

A explains alot, my epilogue her darker bard side came into how she handled things. Not that I'm complaining myself, like that steel in Lels.

 

I accidentally hardened her my first playthrough...not doing that again.

 

In the Leliana romanced version of the letter you get from the Warden, she begs you to help her find her way back into the light. Am I supposed to disappoint the Hero of Ferelden? Nah.

I agree. I think it was also about the necessity of faith experienced in the face of doubt. Not that you need to believe in a specific god, but people need something to believe in and let it be intangible, or they become like Corypheus.

Now given all the reveals at the end of the game, it makes sense to reevaluate on a meta level what the various religions mean, especially Dalish. But for a character, I still think it's the most interesting perspective. Especially if you romance Solas, lmfao.

Hey, my giant isn't a character I love, she's a self-insert.

I discovered her preference for qunari several hours into the game and immediately dropped by this thread to gloat. Other than that lone outburst - because SPEW vs Vashoth was such a big deal for awhile - I was radio silent all the way through.

Because that's what faith is. The game, to me, says that you can't be 100% certain, but you have to act anyway...and if you act knowing that, you will have better results.

Needing to have a clear, unshakeable answer leads to fanaticism, war, and misery. Cass's arc is probably the most overt about this, if you look at how her faith changes after the Breach and the reveals about Seekers.

Or look at Corypheus. When he went to the Black City, he was demanding a tangibility to the gods. He wanted to control them. And finding out that he couldn't--finding nothing--led him to despair. He wants to remake the world because he can't handle the uncertainty. He's not just a megalomaniac, he really believes the world NEEDS a god that answers, that is tangible, that explains things.

She also started abducting her enemies' young children as hostages for the sake of leverage. That was...too scary. Much too scary.

I think my favorite line on this subject is from the Inquisitor after the fall of Haven: "All this started because of fanatics and arguments about the next world. It's time we start believing in this one."

I'd have preferred to end on that note rather than have that song start, because I thought it was a rather good counter to Mother Giselle's over-religiosity. I would also agree with Corypheus that a god with no answers, explanation or effect may as well not exist at all and is utterly useless--though my Inquisitor believes that the Creators would be helpful if they could escape their prison. It does make me somewhat interested in playing as an atheist qunari, though, because I don't think that faith in any sort of higher power is necessary.

I think you're right monkey, that it doesn't have to be faith in a higher power...but I am not sure how well the game is set up to support that. It may be! I will be interested to hear how it goes playing as an atheist. I want to do that, but it's lower on my list.

...by supported, I mean dialogue options and such that make it a meaningful story within the context of those themes, not like, that you can do it at all.

I'm not sure when I'm going make my qunari, my next run I want to play as a pro mage human Inquisitrix. Maybe the Sera romance will be more easy going this time round, my Dalish run was all wildfire, too much passion.  But I did like Solas' reaction to the pairing and Sera saying how she was reluctant at first but how the Inquisitrix was so good she could see past all of that aha. Also reading elfy stuff for you was cute.

 

Also those nicknames lol, first I was Shiny, then Buckles I liked Buckles until Cole mentioned it on the road and Sera freaks out changing it to Tadwinks, sadness. Also that watching your arse line, again lol'd alot at that. I enjoyed some of her lines, must say.
