Nah I've seen plenty of people hate that about Dorian, they just blame Gaider, not the character. Because they want to like him, I guess. Also what LP said.


...I also think Dorian has a point about Thedas. The level of poverty people face is not much better. It's better, but for Quizzie (a human or dwarf one especially I think) to get all self righteous about it is a bit hypocritical.

 

On a certain level I like that we've been given complex characters who might say uncomfortable things but on another I regret not being able to challenge them on their views a bit more or even have a retort handy for Dorian about poverty.

A friend of mine reminded me how people seem to forgive Dorian for justifying slavery or how they don't mind Iron Bull justifying the removal of free-will.

I don't like Iron Bull much and Dorian doesn't seem to like slavery much now that he's out of Tevinter. I didn't see him justifying it so much as trying to explain why it didn't make every Tevinter citizen evil.

Ahh, frack'em Crimson. Didn't see what all the ruckus was about at the temple and Sera is...Sera. No point on getting wound up about what she says, She generally doesn't think before speaking anyhow

Just started a new game today, human mage Inquisitrix, surely this will be far more easy going than my Dalish run. Not sure when I'll get around to a qunari, want to do a male Inquisitor at some point too.

ooooor.......maybe the priests gave themselves willingly? Or just maybe servitude to an actual, very much present god wasn't viewed as much of a sacrifice or slavery?

Just a little counterpoint....

 

Perhaps those individual priests may have given themselves freely for their Gods, but Solas is pretty clear in stating that vallaslin wasn't meant to represent a God's patronship over a person but in actuality a sign of ownership. Their very much slave markings and slavery has been repeatedly mentioned to be a part of Arlathan's  culture.

I posted a while back about my problem with romancing Sera, and that I suddenly stopped getting any approval. I'm now on my 2nd playthrough and it's happening again. After

I cant get any more approval. I did not get any approval for

letting the wardens join the inquisition and none for executing Erimond.

I looked the last one up on youtube, and I should get a "Sera approves".  Is anyone else experiencing this? The last approval I got was

yet, so if the romance cant be initiated until this mission is completed then maybe the approval is maxed out.

Perhaps those individual priests may have given themselves freely for their Gods, but Solas is pretty clear in stating that vallaslin wasn't meant to represent a God's patronship over a person but in actuality a sign of ownership. Solas is the god of rebellion who never had a vallaslin attributed to him. It would go against everything he is to say anything other than he says. Yes, the gods can 'assume direct control' any time they wish over those they have chosen but there isn't a single shred of evidence of actual unwilling slavery. And I dare say that being a slave to a god is a heck of a lot different than being slave to a random dude #3231. Where are the repeated mentions, because the only ones I've heard have been about the vallaslin?

You know, Sera seems oddly fond of the Inquisitor even when not in a romance with them. Her 'cabinet of wonders' had a bit saying she was saving a bottle for me. Then she drank it anyway.  But it says she'll get another one.

Felassan an elf mage in the The Masked Empire claims that Arlathan was no better then modern Orlais, with a class-system that similar to how we would define slavery. Furthermore, when Arlathan eventually fell the lower classes rose up and slaughtered the elite mages of their society. You don't do that unless their a serious problem going on. Also, don't you think that the Gods having the ability to directly mind control their followers, willing or not, will inevitability lead to the abuse of that power. Maybe one elf doesn't want to follow the commands of their chosen God, but gets forced to do as they ask because they quite literally drank mind control juice. Sounds like slavery but even worse to me.

This happened in one pt of mine.  I did start the romance (right after Skyhold which was really early compared to my other pt) but didn't get the last scene to fire.

 

With this character (post Fade), I can't gain approval with Sera anymore but can lose it and gain it back so I've hit the max apparently.  That seems to make her romance path not work properly.

 

Reminds me of what happened with the Leliana romance in DA:O though it's hard to debug Sera's since I can't see the approval number throughout the game.

I heard the Bull and Dorian can potentially hook-up in this game, didn't happen in my run tho, perhaps I should have used them together more *shrugs*. Rarely took the Bull out, Cass was my go to warrior if I needed another alongside mine. Loved Dorian and Sera's banter though, good stuff.

I got the option of rooftop-time after the fade as well, just as I no longer could get approval. You get two judgements after the fade, and I should also have gotten approval for the second (female warden). Just checked on youtube.

Maybe I should report this in the bug-section...

I got that from a banter between Varric and Bull. He even offers to apply rule 34 to it.

Ugh have to remake my human mage again, this is the 2nd attempt now, lol and my Dalish warrior turned out great first time round.
