I know, right. It replaced the Inquisitor's Hood for me.

Wait, that was it? No space battle, no exchange of insults... just turn and run? What is this!?

Even one of those ships Delenn rides to the rescue with could curbstomp the Eartforce remnant there and they know it. That's what it is

The Minbari were on the cusp of destroying Earth at the end of a war where they totally outclassed human forces, but then they suddenly stopped. The reason why is one of the mysteries of B5 lore that gets revealed as you watch the series. Suffice it to say the EarthForce ships know that they have no hope of victory.Even one of those ships Delenn rides to the rescue with could curbstomp the Eartforce remnant there and they know it. Idiocy proves who's the real hero in my books! If you are clearly outnumbered, use the Pincer Movement, just like Hannibal.

If you're seriously outnumbered, you fall back, and trick the enemy into walking into your ambush, where you can counter their numerical advantage by well-defensible positions, the element of surprise, and well-placed supporting fires.
And when you're done, you loot their bodies, just in case some of them have some bloody Dales Loden Wool.

This is neither the Punic wars nor the A-Team. They can't scratch a Minbari cruiser whatever tactics they use. The only time one was destroyed by Earth Force was by a nuke hidden in an asteroid, and the Minbari aren't going to be falling for that trick again.Idiocy proves who's the real hero in my books! No, I described a tactical withdrawal concluded with an L-shaped ambush.
Pincer movement is something different.

The example I gave, Hannibal, used the Pincer movement by retreating away from the romans whilst his cavalry moved to flank them. Which is what Serza described.

Pincer is basically same thing though, you just hit both flanks at the same time and ideally the rear too.

Oh Sera thread.

Good luck using an envelopment in open space.
Of course tactical brilliance aside, Hannibal lost in the long run as well. The art of war is to not commit to battles you don't know that you can win.

That is very true. But I've never read The Art of War, so I'll pick my battles dependent on how big my balls feel.
