You do realise there are people in the real world that try not to wear shoes as much as possible as well.  It actually isn't something that is unrealistic at all.

Oh yes. I know someone who goes around barefoot, and obviously we didn't evolve wearing clothes. I just think it's odd that a people that lives in the woods, where things that can hurt your feet abound would eschew shoes entirely, knowing of their existence.

Solas don't need shoes. Little tiny fade whisps friends keep his feet warm.

Your feet not only get used to some minor things, but builds a tougher layer on the soles of your feet.  I know a few people that walk no rocks, sticks, and even burrs with little issue.  Actually, that would be about the only reason I would wear boots outside... stepped on a burr once and those little bitches are painful <_<

There is something called a hook-worm which as you can guess, hooks on to stuff. If it hooks onto your foot, it buries itself inside your flesh and basically lives inside you.

Heard of that, but don't think I've ever lived in an area where they are prevalent.

I live in Australia. So between the poisonous snakes, spiders, ticks and burning hot pavement, it's better to wear shoes.

There are also flies and water critters that do something like that. Nowhere is safe! It's still a shame nobody freaks Sera out with sordid stories of creepy crawlies. That would be hilarious.

Tropical and subtropical problem. Up here ticks can carry Lyme disease. Basically, know what lurks out in the wilds before actually going in there and dress accordingly ;) But yeah, my feet can handle forests just fine nowdays. I do wear boots on longer jaunts though. I'm alone out there and being rendered unable to walk can mean death.

I know! I love doing that to city slickers :P It would actually be right up Solas's alley to bring it up with his academia just to mess with Sera even more :P

I am a city slicker but also morbidly curious. There is a blog I like to read called 'swim at your own risk' that is basically a repository of horror stories from the deep. Lots of shark stories of course, but sometimes there are stories about eels swimming up sensitive orifices. Yikes!

How did we end up in this topic again? :P

That fish needs to be surgically removed.

And was it me that started this? If so, I am sorry for nothing.

We were discussing ways to freak Sera out. That would do the trick. And yes, I heard about that fish. The story I referenced about the eel actually ended in the same place and the thing ended up in the bladder and had to be surgically removed. An ignominious death for the poor thing. Drowning in urine.

Sera: Just... shut it! That's just... ugh!

Dorian: And here I was contemplating experimenting with sounding. I think I'll refrain.

Quizzy: What's sounding?

Sera: Agh! Just shut up and keep walking. Now.

Imagine living in an era where they couldn't remove it. "Hey look man, it's either we leave it in there or you learn to pee sitting down"

And Sera thread went completely weird once again...

Anyway, killed the last Dragon, got no achievement, even though the quest is complete.

I'm sad.

Time for me to go to bed I think. I'm gonna have to sing a chant or something to keep the horrible "enter your nether region" critters away from my dreams.

Do you want my diamond balls? They glow when achievements are near.

Ok, last thing before bed... Here we go.

Edit: OH! I know what that is.

Edit x3: You know what, I'm gonna go ahead and delete this entire thing. How do I do that?

That's better, we just hide the entire thing and hope a moderator didn't see and think the worst possible thing.
