Yeah, it has been fairly obvious that they added other races as an afterthought. Nothing like having the history of the exalted plains explained to me and then being able to suddenly remind scout Harding who she's speaking to at the Emerald graves >.< At times this feels worse than the endlessly re-used maps of DA2 :/ I have a second elven playthrough (no romance this time, nobody aside from Sera is particulary interesting and I relish the chance of doing things my way for once), but I just can't bring myself to play. The emerald crusader is sitting pretty at Redcliffe waiting for patches to drop and maybe fix some of this broken mess :/

That's just it...if she entered the relationship knowing who you were, why then would you flip and try changing someone for your benefit? That's literally the definition of selfish. I love Sera...and maybe the point is that everyone ain't for everybody. And I'm okay with that.
I'm still amazed she didn't dump me, we argued alot, it worked in it's own weird weird way. Didn't enjoy it all that much, it was a struggle at times. I can only hope the other races are more enjoyable.

I couldn't romance her with Neriya. Just the initial reaction when we first met let me know there was no way I would put my character through that. I'm use to compromise in a relationship...you do it more often than not. But if someone asks you to compromise a part of yourself that they know is important to you, that isn't love...that's control. And it's also very selfish. Happiness is a collective. Neriya isn't super elfy(or fit the stereotypes) but she didn't deny her Dalish heritage. Spoke elven to Solas often because she missed her clan.
it sorta rubs me wrong that she was written that way. she didn't need to be pro-Dalish but that right there...strange. I'm waiting to see how she reacts to Kradeche. Cause even though she appears to lust hard for fem qunari, if she is selfish, Kradeche WILL call her out on it.
It was grating and originally I broke it off too, but... The way she pleads. She doesn't really care what you believe, even looks to be ashamed of asking, but she just wants to hear the lie to stop her world from coming apart. Sera is a deeply troubled girl, and after consideration I just couldn't judge her actions as a competent adult. Even though the inquisitor has just had a rather gigantic religious experience and wouldn't be in a place where she could be rational herself, I decided to metagame it away

Hearing her gigglesnort for the first time is what made me love her character, I can't not love a character who has such a silly laugh and equally weird sense of humour, especially since I have just as weird a sense of humour and am prone to laughing at the stupidist things.

Really wish there was a middle ground option to pick from that scene, my elf died alittle inside having to deny what she believed in just so I could see the romance playthrough. Hence never again will I romance Sera as an elf, that was a horrible dilemma.

When she basically asks you to deny your beliefs and your heritage to continue the romance then yeah you lose alot of my respect. Just like ugh the selfishness of it all, I can't go through that scene again as an elf Inquisitor.
Actually this happens a lot irl. Sera doesn't date elves who believe in dalish gods. Clashing beliefs and all that. She basically tells you the relationship won't work if you both belive in different gods/religion so she saves you the trouble. I personally i'm atheist but i honestly wouldn't date someone who strongly believes in a religion because that could mean our beliefs would clash and bring a lot of trouble in the relationship (though i can respect their beliefs. the problem lies in them if they'll respect mine). Then again there are ppl who are happily together and respect each other's beliefs, but a rare thing. Sadly.
Though it's odd because this should've been cleared out from the first time you flirt with her and tells you that she doesn't date religious elves before moving on, instead of going almost at the end of the game and drops the "me or that" bomb.

Part of me thinks she was originally intended to be race-gated but then again some Dalish can be open-minded or have a different perspective (especially after this game lol)

Why change for someone who can't accept you for who you are, beliefs an all. Obviously, change is welcome if you are a pig living in a s***sty but changing your outlook on life, you hobbies, your interests, your beliefs... is not worth a relationship.
