I failed to see the humour in that scene, the irony oh yeah it's there alright but laughing at someone you care about who just found out that all they believed in was not entirely true, well if that doesn't make a person angry I don't know what would. It's more tragic than anything and coming from someone who is meant to care for you it stings, that was alot of information to swallow for my elf, alot of harsh truths. Can't say I appreciated Sera's response to her beliefs being shaken.

 

Tbh..... if i was the dalish inquisitor and found all these things i'd be very angry with my own culture after all these revelations, than direct my anger at Sera. And she didn't laugh at your inquisitor but the dalish culture and how they believed to be superior.

 

I admit, she could have responded a little differently.

Tbh..... if i was the dalish inquisitor and found all these things i'd be very angry with my own culture after all these revelations, than direct my anger at Sera. And she didn't laugh at your inquisitor but the dalish culture and how they believed to be superior.

She laughed at what happened, laughed at my Dalish's core beliefs and which in turn is a part of who she is. So yeah it felt like she was more or less making light of all that had happened, could you be anymore insensitive Sera, really. Why we had no option for a nice compromise here I'll never know, it's deny a part of who you are or stand by your beliefs.

Exactly. It's not about being right or wrong, but about the fact that person she's supposed to be in love with is in emotionally vurnerable position and Sera doesn't care about it - she only thinks in that moment about herself.

 

TBH, I would now prefer if she wasn't romance option at all - it would even probably help her character development, because she's obviously written as an extremely immature person who just can't handle these issues in different way, but if we embrace that fact, then apparently our PC takes advantage of her because she's way more adult (in emotional and intellectual sense), and if not, then it really looks like Sera just doesn't care about feelings of the PC.

A hug would have been perfect.

If you kill off Hawke in the Fade, there is an option to hug Varric in the subsequent conversation. I wish the game had more of that.

Allrighty then. Did you noticed that the priests wore the vallaslin? Did they look like slaves to you? Maybe, just maybe the slavery isn't what you so quickly conclude it is? Maybe something to do with how gods can have direct link with their chosen? Solas is a god of rebellion who never had vallaslin attributed to him, so he propably has somewhat of a beef with the system of 'chosen ones'. Corphy-****** is trying to get a rise out of you.
...And all this means nothing to the Dalish. They adopted the marks after the fall of the dales as a huge middle finger to the humans, to mark themselves out. Defiance. So maybe you should do some research before next taking a huge steaming dump on a group that does indeed have its fans who are sick and tired of slander being touted as truth?

Yep, dredging up bad memories has put me in a foul mood. If anyone else wants to have a go at the Dalish, do pm me so we can keep further drekstorm out of this thread. But really....step right up 

 

Sorry, if you think I hate the Dalish. I think their a pretty cool alternative take on elves in fiction. I just think that their misuse of vallasin is funny in a very dark way.

Anyways, maybe Solas is being a bit hyperbolic with his condemnation of the Gods with calling their worship one based around servitude. Maybe, some elves had the vasllaslin put on the by force by nobles and others put them as a sign of reverence to their Gods. Regardless, Arlathan still had a caste system where Elvish Dreamers dominated the whole of society, and when you have literal Gods around who are apparently supposed to help their people you'd think that wouldn't be tolerated. Then again, maybe they just had different cultural morality and thought that such a system of inequality was fine. Who knows, need way more lore to make a definitive stance. 

 

In regard to the elves using the vasllaslin as a symbol of rebellion after the fall of the Dales, well they took them under the assumption that their supposed to mean their patronship to the Gods, which is sort of right, just replace patronship with ownership. Many elves might be fine with this realization, but I'm sure others aren't. Bioware did give you the option to remove after all, so I'm guessing they want you to at least think this a messed up discovery. The point is that the Dalish don't know about this whatsoever, they just believe their ancient culture was utterly utopian which is clearly not true. I'm not criticizing the vallaslin as an example of, "haha the Dalish totally suck", no, what I'm saying is they need to learn about their history, its postives and negatives, and then decide whether its culture that should be revered, repurposed or just thrown away.

So she has different personality when she's with Qunari?

She just doesn't have to face that kind of issue when she's with PC of different race. But ultimately, the nature of the issue isn't the problem. The problem is how she handles those issues.
