I don't like to go the hetero route, even though Cass is incredibly tempting at times but alas I fail to complete those runs. I lose interest too easily. Therefore my options are Jo and Sera. I might make a bloke for Dorian maybe, maybe.

He does have a mighty fine ass if that helps. I don't even like dudes but seriously.

The problem wasn't really being "too elfy", but complete disrespect for PC's feelings. What makes you think she wouldn't act the same to a Qunari over different issue?

I could see Sera converting to the Qun. I could picture her seeing the Qun as a way to help people. It's like communism, only it works. Everyone has a role to play, you all get equal shares, no one goes hungry, you are all one, so no nobles looking down on you. I think if she was to become a part of any religion, it would be the Qun.

Sorry, if you think I hate the Dalish. I think their a pretty cool alternative take on elves in fiction. I just think that their misuse of vallasin is funny in a very dark way.

Spoiler

Repurposing is not misuse. Repurposing of symbols happens all the time. Otherwise...Better.

Soo....what was that first steaming pile about again? Because now I feel like I'm talking to a completely different person

Sigh. Are we really going to argue about this again?

Sera has no beefs with qunari (although she got worried IB might "turn" her in the qun in a banter). She has problems with dalish due to past wounds.

If she had, i'd be fine and roll another race. Simple. Everyone has problems and beliefs and reacts differently. You just can't know how someone would react.

Isn’t the PC also disrespecting her feelings?

Not really, it was a rhetorical question

Full of insinuations that didn't have anything to do with my comment, intended to make me look bad. What was the point?

If you mean the Qun then that's not a good analogy because the qunari PC was never part of the Qun

And you’re forcing her to deny a part of herself. I don’t see it very one-sided…

I’d say to try rewatching the clip; it’s hardly a black and white issue. What happens if you pick the less confrontational option at the start, same end shpiel?

She is asking you to go along with her bizarre logic because she doesn't get it, agree with her to stay in the relationship or not, stand by your beliefs and it's over. That is unreasonable, no compromise, no middle ground in this situation.

I knew going in that a part of it was gonna be light and fun, a bit crazy at times but I never expected to be forced into a dilemma where I had to compromise my Dalish elf's beliefs to see the romance all the way through. I can't romance her again as a Dalish, that is out for me, she is forcing my hand, I can't go through that again. Goddamn shame, never expected this to happen, disappointed, I'm just not compatible with her as an elf. I can't go along with her logic.

Fair point.

I personally think this 'conflict' adds some much-needed depth and complexity to these romances, something that is often desperately needed, IMO. I understand how it can be a deal breaker for some, though.

Sera would probably agree.

I thought my comment in which I stated that the nature of the issue (be it "being too elfy" or anything else) isn't the problem, but the way she handles that issue is the problem was clear enough.

Crafted by Uthemiel, the Old God of Beauty. :P

edit: oh no! The Warden killed Dorian's maker. Oh well, at least his finest creation was already out there. He'd peaked anyway.

And instead of going with it and maybe taking it up later, you refuse to compromise your beliefs (which by definition are not wholly factual)? Clearly it’s not meant to be for those two, then.

Your character is well within her rights to feel betrayed, of course, but I hope that you can at some point see that it is not only one side injured.

I found her romance to be more draining at times as an elf, well I can't disconnect from their history and lore I enjoy it too much, explains why I adored Solas in this game alot. I'm currently doing a human playthrough, I just hope things will be better.

Okay, I haven't played through it, but it seems like the options you have are:

a. go along with Sera and compromise yourself

b.refuse to compromise yourself, and hurt Sera

The problem there is that it's not really how those things play out...maybe the relationship could still end, of course, but the fact that it's sort of a heightened conversation, right after a major event for a Dalish elf, and there can't be any follow up or attempt to understand each other is what turns me off.

Or am I wrong? Like I said, I haven't played it.

She's supposed to be in love with Dalish PC too. Again, the problem is not that she has beefs with Elves, but how she treats the PC, how she handles that issue. And CrimsonN7 explained profoundly what is the problem with that.

I get that she has some issues with being an elf, she is self-hating at times, tough childhood, has feelings of inferiority around other elves and I sympathized with her on those points. She is obviously a troubled individual and has shown her vulnerability once romanced but in that scene she was pretty insensitive and showed little/ no respect for my Dalish's feelings after all that happened. It is a deal breaker situation for me as a result, future playthroughs as an elf are out for me. Glad others can see past that horrible dilemma, I simply can't.

The only real grip i have with sera while humorous, is her "too elfy" bit. Honestly whats too elfy. Its like saying im too black makes no sense

Too elfy, meaning, dalish.

Everyone knows the majority of elf population are dalish. This is what she means by "too elfy".

For example, greeks believe in olympic gods (im talking about ancient greeks here :P) and someone who's greek and doesn't believe, tells you "hope you aren't too "greek"". It's a way of phrasing "hope you don't believe in the 12theism".

thought the majority was city elves. And i see it now just always struck a bad note since it sounds similar to what i heard in highschool
