Lets see... patronship or ownership? All the same to a faithful. I seriously doubt any Dalish would be shocked to learn that the vallaslin marked out those who belonged to their gods as they as a people have wholly devoted themselves to their culture and their gods. Heck, it will give the vallaslin even more luster. And as for what the Dalish believe the past was like...They have allways been the first to admit that there is a lot that they don't know. They would be the first to agree with you about learning from the past.

Soo....what was that first steaming pile about again? Because now I feel like I'm talking to a completely different person

That's the problem though their not re-purposing the vallaslin yet. They have don't know the off putting details about them. Like I said, they just think their culture was awesome because they really don't much about it in the first place. Their devoted to their limited interpretation of what their Gods were not the honest historical reality. Which is why I want to see the cultural fallout of this discovery. I honestly love to see any religion or culture bashed for all its faults because by doing so you learn how not to repeat them. Also, patronship and ownership to me are two different things that may sound similar, but have differing meanings entirely.  That said, we really don't know how far that ownership really went. I could have a heap of scary possibilities that would make the Gods look like mindraping monsters. Lastly, I still standby Sera's mocking of the Elf Inquisitor being funny. It was definitely offensive but still strangely  humorous to me anyways. But, hey I do love religious schadenfreude, so that probably explains why.

 

Oh and that streaming pile you were talking about. It's called an argument. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't make it less. Seriously, man I didn't use a poop metaphor to criticize yours why do so to mine. Just be cool. Were arguing about fantasy elves here, why even give that much of a damn.

Actually this happens a lot irl. Sera doesn't date elves who believe in dalish gods. Clashing beliefs and all that. She basically tells you the relationship won't work if you both belive in different gods/religion so she saves you the trouble. I personally i'm atheist but i honestly wouldn't date someone who strongly believes in a religion because that could mean our beliefs would clash and bring a lot of trouble in the relationship (though i can respect their beliefs. the problem lies in them if they'll respect mine). Then again there are ppl who are happily together and respect each other's beliefs, but a rare thing. Sadly.

 

Though it's odd because this should've been cleared out from the first time you flirt with her and tells you that she doesn't date religious elves before moving on, instead of going almost at the end of the game and drops the "me or that" bomb.

 

Things like these make me wish she wasn't available to elves tbh.

Well, the most Creator-thumping Dalish elf of all time could still successfully romance Leliana and Cassandra. They let it slide. But...not Sera. Little bothersome. 

 

Some are more open to it than others, Sera has issues with the Dalish culture while Leliana and Cassandra don't all that much

Okay, I haven't played through it, but it seems like the options you have are:

 

a. go along with Sera and compromise yourself

b.refuse to compromise yourself, and hurt Sera

 

The problem there is that it's not really how those things play out...maybe the relationship could still end, of course, but the fact that it's sort of a heightened conversation, right after a major event for a Dalish elf, and there can't be any follow up or attempt to understand each other is what turns me off.

 

Or am I wrong? Like I said, I haven't played it. 

 

That's about the short version of it yup, it ends perma if you disagree with her logic on what happened. You can't even be friends afterwards, it's the very bad break-up if I recall. If you're like me and you're an elfy elf person avoid, it will only lead to a headache and some respect lost for Sera in that situation.

Probably stems from her past experience, she does mention being accepted is a new thing for her. She was raised by a human for the most part so I'm guessing there's some resentment towards elves who expected her to keep up with some form of this elven culture maybe even looked down on her for it. Add to that human society not being very kind to elves and she probably went through a lot of effort to both figure out who she was and grow comfortable with it.

She also admits to joining the inquisition at least partly to so she can figure out that Andraste stuff for herself so that seems to be a at least a partial foundation of what makes her feel like her. I'd guess asking her to reconcile the possibility of some truth in the elven legends with her other beliefs basically undermines the fragile foundation she has established for herself which is why she's so adament about the whole subject.

Solas keeps trying to be the Obi-Wan to her Luke, and she just responses with the catchphrase, "You're making my head hurt."

From what i recall, Sera does warm up to Cole though. She starts calling him "him/he" than "it". As for Solas, she really doesn't get along well with him as far as i know.

 

My game is little buggy in terms of banter sigh so i probably missed some lines. People say that Sera shows much more character in banters than cutscenes.

i found it cute the way you call her on it and when cole catches it he gets all "yay big sister cares"

I was really fascinated by Solas throughout this game, he became my go to mage infact. Didn't expect this, he surprised me alot, him and Cass my favourite companions no question. Solas and Sera agreed at times on the Dalish of the present, Solas was more sad on how much they have fallen, whereas Sera had alot of disdain for em.

I'll play a rogue again. I just like it too much. Archers are beasts this time around! I got a feel for warrior and mage gameplay through companions. It didn't click for me. I'm a rogue through and through. I might play as an assassin instead of a tempest though.

I'm thinking it's more a long the line they bath or shower or something near eachother.  She makes comments about Cass too that go like "wait.. when did you get to see how fit she is under the armour?!".  Surprised Cass didn't pause in that banter and have the same moment.  Only if they have bathed or dressed near eacother, because then it would just be a "yeah, she has seen me naked" thing.
