I just had a thought: what if the inspiration for Sera was the BSN trolls?
Always saying something offensive just to get a reaction, demanding others conform to her views, using childish insults when someone tries to reason with her, never explaining her point of view in a coherent manner, immature humor, etc. Maybe that's why we can kick her out at any time. It's like the ignore function on the forum.
Ha! That's harsh, but I do think that they set out to write a character who subverts our expectations for how their companions should act and develop at every opportunity. Maybe when you do that you get something resembling a troll...

Honestly I think they will not make any companion specific DLCs, but if they did, it would likely be centered around Solas or Dorian. Just my guess, but they seem to have the most lingering plot threads that would be the same in everyone's PT. (Vs IB/Cass/Viv, who are more dependent on your actions).
I do hope we get some good content with her in DLCs. Carver in particular had some wonderful character moments in the DA2 DLCs.
You never know, we may get a Citadel kind of DLC... spending time with your companions and boom something happens, kill the baddies and then partyyyyy.

Well, Leliana could be skipped or kicked out at any time in Origins and she got a DLC just for her. Morrigan could be kicked out too and she got a DLC as well. You never know. Or maybe DAI will get an expansion with more dialogue for everyone? *fingers crossed*
Good point.
I'm just doubtful they will make bother with companion-specific DLC this time around. It seems more likely that any future DLC will be largely story-centric, with no relevance to any one companion (similar to what they did with DA2).

Well, there is one companion who could warrant a DLC... Or an entire game. You know who I mean if you've beaten the game.

This thread,
most religiously read,
full of characters wonderful,
so long as you are mindful.
Never change,
or your readers estrange.
Without you,
our family would feel most blue.

So... In the Fade...
Great as that sequence was, what I most appreciated was being able to specify exactly how afraid of spiders my Inquisitor is when talking to Sera.

Funny, right...
Both Hawke and Lavellan saw spiders. Hawke the Giant ones, Lavellan the smaller buggers, about knee-high.
They're both protagonists, which means an extension of myself to a certain degree...
I'm an arachnophobic.
BioWare should really get out of my head. ![]()

I thought this would be a good place to chat about this:
Anyone else romanced Sera with a female dwarf? Just started her romance last night, hilarious change of pace from the human/Josephine romance in my first playthrough!

I interpeted that scene as the Inquisitor just telling a little white lie to a very rattled Sera to make her feel better. "Yeah, sure. I'm afraid of spiders, even little ones.Hug?"

I think that they appear as spiders in their default state as well, when they can't conjure a fear strong enough.
By the way, how the hell do they relate to terrors? Not to mention those fear demons that look like the Aspect of the Nightmare, a being I originally thought was unique.

Your Inquisitor lies to her partner a lot.

Spiders in their default state, or if... Yeah, guess it makes sense, a little bit.
I have no idea how they're related to Terrors, but I think the Terror Demon is a weaker companion to the Fear Demon, judging on their relative numbers in the game.
And, I believe the Nightmare is actually a Fear Demon that grew very powerful over time, enough as to earn a name that gives it the "appearance" of a unique demon.

I think the spiderling demons might actually be unique minions of the Nightmare, which could be why they don't appear elsewhere. They certainly don't seem weaker than terrors, which are... very annoying to fight unless you can throw out a lot of spirit damage.

Elfy stuff aside, was the character you were playing in any way a problem for her?
My amoral assassin got along with her just fine.
I didn't appreciate her beating that noble to death, not a healthy reaction at all, disturbing more than anything. I gave out to her over that, other times in the game she disapproved of my actions, bringing her to the Temple was a big mistake on my part. So bloody disrepectful, I know better now, and on top of what I found out at the temple and her reaction thereafter it killed my enthusiasm to romance her with an elf permanently. Ugh I didn't want this, I was looking forward to an elf/elf pairing for so long, f*cksake if Bioware wanted me to never play as an elf with her again they did a perfect job of it.

Yes, and Krem won't be angry at you if you are a woman and perfectly happy about your biological gender.I don't see self-hate, she just doesn't strongly identify with the race she was born into. Similar, but to a lesser extent, like how Krem doesn't identify with the gender he was assigned at birth.
In my experience, people that feel strongly about others not agreeing with them usually have some kind of self-esteem related issue, or insecurities.
Sera just can't agree to disagree. That's why keeping her approval level high is so hard....

She's pretty narrow minded and stubborn as hell also, can't see an alternative viewpoint to hers at times. She frustrated me alot in my first run.
