After what happened with a pro-Dalish elf yup, save yourself the headache. As for qunari eh they don't interest me all that much despite Sera having a strong preference for em. I'll stick with my human mage for now, more so interested in how that goes storywise, gonna side with the mages this time, be very Andrastian, something different.

 

Humans work too although mages can be a little problematic and if you side with the mages Sera is gonna to disapprove. Also if you drink from the well she points an arrow at you, to see if you are an abomination lol

She's right to disapprove of mages. Sera doesn't like magic.

But i sided with mages on my first pt and still the romance went good. The arrow pointing is reasonable. She wanted to see if you're an abomination, i don't see where's the "lol" in it.

Sera and I still ended up really close on my mage playthrough, it's not too difficult to get her to still love ya.

 

I have a much harder time getting Solas to like me after siding with templars...

My primary problem with all this is that people set expectations on personality according to a characters sexuality. That actually seems way more bigoted and intolerant than sera is.

When I play a bioware game I seek to sample different exeriences and frankly this game have more options than any bioware game before it.

No one has expectations on personality based on sexuality. If someone said "sera shouldn't be like this because lesbians aren't like this", that would be what you're talking about. The hard fact of the matter is that because Sera is the only lesbian LI in the game, she does end up being a huge deal for lesbian representation and it's perfectly valid and important to talk about her in that context. In game world, it may not seem like a big of a deal, but this is a text, and it doesn't exist in a vacuum.

And honestly, none of Bioware's lesbian couples outside of LI have healthy relationships either. Look at Celene/Briala and Branka/Hespith.

Well I almost feel a tad awkward coming in all brand new with the last few pages but hello! So i'll just dart in here quickly before leaving into the lurking void of lurking. So I enjoyed the character a lot, enjoyed my romance with her, loved the game and wanted to come on by and meet some, hopefully, like-minded people. I tend to avoid the DA fandom on tumblr so I don't get to chat about it much.

Our representation is so limited in media as it is not surprising at all that some cling to new characters like Sera, hoping for something positive in return. I'm glad others are enjoying her, don't want to be a downer here, I'm just disappointed myself as I wanted to love this character. In the future it's not worth building up expectations like I did, usually leads to a fall.

 

As for your gamestyle I can't play like you do, I struggle to play as males in this game and the hetero route doesn't appeal to me for obvious reasons. So my style is self-imposed limitation, hence why I had alot of enthusiasm and hopes for Sera but it didn't work out. Shame.

I was not basing my expectations on her sexuality. I did not think 'she's a lesbian so she'll be such and such'. She's the first lesbian romance, and I was looking forward to meeting her. We were told she was a brat but also someone who cares for the little people.

 

She is indeed a brat, but to a degree that caught me by surprise. She's close-minded. Anyone who disagrees with her is a stupid head and she will make no compromises with an Elven lover. That's not very endearing to me.

 

As for caring for the little people, she gets a bunch of them killed in one of her schemes and doesn't care because she got the noble back with a brutal beatdown. Again, that's not nice.

 

My problem with Sera isn't that she's not a 'good lesbian' whatever that means; my problem is that she might not be a good person. She certainly isn't a nice person.

I used her once on a horse for the quest where you run the race course. She didn't say anything there.

Don't use horses that much normally.

I'd guess she's not super thrilled by it?

I get the feeling that you are defending something but I never said anything about being right or wrong, only what works best to romancing her.

I didn't get any comments from that... they just say 'yah!' and 'woah' when you accelerate and stop respectively.

Go to Sera Squad tag or Sera Critique Critical tag on tumblr for safety, lolz. There are many fans of hers in these tags and some good points for defense.
