That's because you read her text, luv. Her accent can be tricky for non British people. Even with the subtitles she can be tricky.

Funnily enough I understand Sera perfectly well even though English ain't my native language (though I am bilingual finnish-english). Could be that I've had to try to understand people who are drunk, stoned, psychotic, foreigners who don't speak a word of either finnish or English or a combination of any and all of the above in my job. Made me well versed in filtering gibberish :P

Ah... Thought it might be North America somewhere. You really need exposure to some more regional UK accents if you think Sera is tough to understand. Her accent is mild compared to some, believe me.

I know someone who went to Canada and he basically had to adopt a south-eastern English accent as that's what people expected him to have and they couldn't understand his Teesside twang. There's more to my country than London... ;)

I don't know.

I've known a scouser and a geordie for years and I still struggle to understand them.

Hell, I did a double take when one asked me for a ****** (cigarette) first time I met them.

I actually read the subtiltes, otherwise I would be bloody lost. :P But it's like something in my brain doesn't compute...  Lol.

I'm excited to explore England when I come to visit in May. :) I'm sure I'll get about just fine.

My favorite accent is the Lanark/Motherwell one. Scotland has the funniest English.

That's kind of my point. Scousers and Geordies can actually be tough to understand by people from other parts of the UK, especially if they're using a lot of local dialect. Sera is comparatively easy.

Shetland isn't Scotland. It's some Scottish islands half way to Norway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shetland

...Thanks for that...

You can also put on English subtitles. I am a native speaker but opted to do that cause sometimes I couldn't hear everything that was said or like you could not get everything Sera was saying!  :P

Aaand now I need to go bury myself in shame :P I heard a scottish singer (Julie Fowlis) talking on the radio and didn't put two and two together, I thought it was just the accent.

I'd normally agree, but...

Come on now... Quizzy has vast panoramas of mountains...

Also: Quizzy can do this:

omg... I'm SO gonna do this next time.

I do agree the Quizzy's room seems rather empty, though.

I adore subtitles. If I could use them with people in person, I totally would!

I'm generally ok with UK accents (generally) last one I had trouble with was the heavy Yorkshire accent of the woman cop on Happy Valley. Had to put the subtitles on for her. Had no idea what she was talking about and was ashamed as I am descended of Yorkshiremen.

Heh, I always wondered if that was the case in the UK.
I worked in a backpackers hostel and the old joke was that the English were the only people who's English needs subtitles.

Granted this is an Australian joke and they can be hard to understand themselves.

Not the same thing! (Like funnyunc said.) But Lanark is silly. Here's a normal Lanark accent tag, and here's one that is hilarious but also NSFW and extremely sweary.

I understand most of what Sera says, but maybe it's because I constantly expose myself to British stuff and I am a bit of a weirdo myself. Another problem with Sera is that she tends to go on tangents. That makes it harder too. Cloudcuckoolander that she is.

She's got the attitude, but I think she has to work on her potty-mouth skills before passing for a true bogan :P

Oddly I'm a Yorkshireman but descended from Irish, Welsh, Belgians and people from the Midlands of England.
