Which is what makes me think Sera might be a bit different in a later game. BioWare seems to have a track record of evolving their characters.
I doubt her anti-magic attitude will change. She faced her fears and it just made it worse.

Would be nice to see that on Sera. I wonder how Lukas will manage that, if he's willing to do it. ![]()

Fixing her isn't strictly necessary; it'd be preferable, but simply trying to ensure that the same problems don't show up again in the next game would also work.
Because I've already had this discussion with people in the Josephine thread and they made better points.
Well okay then!
Well if you think they made better points they must have been excellent, sorry we weren't up to your standard...

"Our" being those who find Sera's implementation badly wanting. And you might be surprised; Crimson and Basement Cat both seem inclined.
I would not say 'badly wanting'. My problem with Sera is that she does no self evaluation and questioning of her actions. She wants things to stay the same even as they change around her. That means she can't adapt. She complains about the way the world is (big people stepping on small people) and then she complains when the world changes (the aftermath of closing the Breach). She says she wants to figure stuff out and then she whines when the answer isn't to her liking. (recruiting her and aftermath of closing the Breach respectively) That annoys me to no end.
Is it an unrealistic reaction? Not at all. Does it annoy me? You bet it does! I am just not compatible with her. That won't stop me from playing a character who can get along with her. I'm thinking a Dwarf. Because reasons.

I... suppose I feel angry because it feels as though my concerns are being diminished, sometimes.

I think it was a terrible decision and wish they had used that characterization for someone who wasn't a romance option.
I actually disagree with that

I'm romancing her as a dwarf right now and loving it. ![]()
Those are good reasons, and I can see why some people would feel this way. I thought it was great that there was one character who doesn't bend to the players will, especially romantically. In DA2 the romances bordered on nonsense at times, because you could say and do what you want and as long as you click the heart you win. I like that Sera's is more reactionary than that.

Didn't know this. So far it doesn't seem she had less dialogue then the others. I'll Check it when I'll make a Playthrough to Romance her.
I've seen her romance, and doesn't have less to me

Look at all of ya. Arguing here...
Meanwhile, I'm continuing my Nightmare playthrough. Flirting with Cass as a First is so much fun. Nothing will come of it, however, since Lyna isn't exactly a male name, right. Oh, Sera, I think you'll have to love her, too...

Which makes sense. She's busy worrying, isn't she?
Nah, she's just a shy gal ![]()
I had a chat with her in Skyhold before her quest where I approached her at her desk and somehow asked "how's it going" and this led to an extended scene on the balcony of the Quiz bedroom where she unburdened herself to me. It seemed loaded with tempts to start the romance and I avoided those.
Most of those options don't really get you anywhere, and in various cases Josie will divert from the subject. I wasn't actually feeling the romance until after I got done with her quest.

I know how I'd write it or her. I'd keep her salty for good. It's her nature. I'd keep her defensive about magic. However I'd write it so she develops an affection for a Dalish and then have her lose that person and have the loss send her into a self-questioning period.

Posté 10 décembre 2014 - 03:57

unlikely, as the anti-magic attitude is intrisically linked to her misgivings about the dalish.

Yes, Sera is just compatible with qunari/humans/dwarfs/elfs who believe in andraste/are atheists. The people who had problems with her romance are the ones who have an elf who's heavily dalish.
