Haha, so I didn't realize there wasn't a supply cache right before you fight Alexius, and I had used them all up (when I really didn't NEED to) and so I have to fight him with everyone at minimum health and no potions. I also should have made better armor, but it would have been easy without this, haha. Fun times! (My last save is from like 2 hours ago, damn save limit!!! )

Not turning the difficulty down because I'm trying to get the Hard achievement on this PT...otherwise, I could do it on casual pretty easily. I almost had him...he was down to 200 HP and then I slipped and hit the wrong key and died. ARGHHH!! I was thinking I might try for the Nightmare achievement, since Hard is not that bad at all, but...this is SO FRISTRATING, idk if I could do it.

Sera surprised me though. I just focused on Dorian, Cass, and my 2H warrior, using guard and barrier to keep them alive and figured she'd just get squished, but her AI did a pretty good job of using stealth to avoid attacks.

Sera wants to go to melee range with me all the time unless i handhold her constantly >.< I hate the AI in this game. The presets from DA2 were so much better.

I dunno, it's probably your Quizzy.

Both Arianne and Lyna never needed to tell her much to stay out of sword's reach.

Varric and Solas, tho...

Yesterday, on my Nightmare PT, they just decided to storm off, forcing me to nearly lose control over the battlefield.

That stuff be deadly on that difficulty.

I'm actually wondering which path is 'easier' in terms of combat and gameplay, just as a reference for my inevitable Nightmare run.

I haven't tried the Templar path yet so I have no clue what it's like, but In Hushes Whispers was not an easy fight.

I'm kinda hoping Champions of the Just are the easier path, because it's what I intend to take with Lyna.

'Sgonna be fun!

Just started my nightmare run.

Pre Skyhold is proving kinda rough but once I figured out I needed to pick my battles carefully, it got better.

Being a melee rogue probably doesn't help though.

I think that Sera's views are naive, simplistic and ignore the fact that elves clearly have it worse than even the most oppressed humans in Thedas.

That said, I don't think she hates elves. She dislikes any person or group who sets up elves and their problems as separate from other peoples and that's why she dislikes Dalish culture, doesn't support Briala or like it if you choose the elf-specific option when being made inquisitor. It's a fine distinction maybe but it's there, I think.

Yeah, they're squishy, gotta be careful.

I'm playing a First (sounds so much cooler than Mage...) with my usual party set up of tank-rogue-rogue-mage, except I've swapped out one set of daggers for dual ranged (Varric and Sera)... Also haven't unlocked The Wall or Bull yet, so Cassie's my hitsponge.

Varric and Sera are a pretty good team with their specs.
While Sera turns herself into a machine gun, Varric leeches off her crits to keep spamming Long Shot and Full Draw.

Yeah, melee rogues are going to have it tougher because they don't have the durability to take some of the more powerful hits.

Also, do pick your fights. So long as you are an equal level or higher to your enemy, the fight should go ok but if you do all get killed, use tac cam and focus those shots on who needs them. I have won countless fights which would have been inevitable losses because of a well places arrow.

Melee rogue suits me better even with the squishiness.
Prioritize targets (Archers>Mages>Warriors with no shield>Warriors with a shield >Two Handers) and attack when an opportunity presents itself.

I do find myself missing the DA2 Tactics screen though.

I actually like the Dalish for the most part I just have a hard time understanding how they could exalt a history and gods they know so little about, guess that's why I'm an atheist lol. :)

I thought that's how patriotism normally worked.

Cassie is a very good sponge.

Indeed.

So, it feels like I'll end up carrying like four different staffs around, just to get the most out of various vulnerabilities. Also, swapping abilities between fights like a mad, since I'm a Mage...

*sigh*

Dual wield Rogue was so much easier in this regard... I just had three dagger abilities, three flasks (Tempest), Stealth and Mark of the Rift, and I don't think I'd need anything else the entire game. Not even on Nightmare.

I also forgot I gave Sera the Ultimate HaXXXorz piece of equipment, and thus failed to have a chance at closing a rift three levels higher... Oh, stupid me.

Jar of Bees is Nature damage, right.

And just think how much longer boss fights will be now you can't spam Deathblow during Flask of Fire.

Really? Are you playing on nightmare? Because I don't find that to be necessary playing as a mage on hard. Then again I tend to play as a two mage party and give my mages different abilities from one another...

Yup. I don't think I'd need four different staves, but I love to abuse the hell out of situational advantages. It's an old thing from ArmA.

For example, if you engage the enemy head-on, you'll kill one, they know you're there, it gets harder. If you take the time to set up an advantage, you can pop up to an entire fireteam before they know what hit them. Heck, a platoon-sized unit, if you have either the heavy weapons or the numbers for it.

When you get the castle and everyone is in the garden before you talk with them, but sera is still there. What should i do to get her out of the garden and in to her room?
