that's why you take the nobilty speech perk, you force him to bend to the inquisitions will, and still get sera's approval. two birds, one stone.

It's funny that something like that would work with her, sort of inconsistent with how she works as a character. That scene does make me want more of a backstory for her at some future point/dlcs.

Take all the speech perks!

Of course. That's the only way to go. Though I do wish that those were unlocked via a war table mission or a quest rather than a perk...

Oh no!! But I'm sure it'll look amazing once you're all done!

I hope so. It took me hours to make that cover!

I think its more because you basically strip him of any real power by forcing him to do work for the inquisition...

you're human noble, sounds like someone I would not get along with then.

Also on the subject of her accent, what's with people not being able to understand her? Seriously you want something hard, try something from the Highlands of Scotland....

Personally, it's not the accent; it's the distribution of the words. Her sentences read garbled to me.

I don't think she's nearly as awful as you've described, but...

My qunari couldn't, and my noble kicked her out a few missions before the final fight.

But my male noble is definitely keeping her.

I don't know how she is, my point is that her presentation in the game made her look horribly unfit for the Inquisition, and I had no earthly way to justify taking her with me in the first place. And while I enjoy the opportunity to simply put my foot down and say goodbye when a potential companion makes no sense, I do think it's a shame that you have to either play as a particularly tolerant kind of Inquisitor or not give a damn to get er as a party member at all.

I guess that's your preorgative, but I really think you should give her a chance on your next playthrough.

Ah, yea that would be a problem.

I'm sorry to hear that you and cat's expectations weren't met with what we had in Sera... =\

Well... Sera is a bit of a b-word.

Spoilered for profanity

Spoiler

I had to make that joke. Sorry. Anyway: she's a well written character, she's not a cliché and she's not a stereotype either. I appreciate that. There are other things I do not appreciate so much about her. :D

It seems lots of people find it disturbing.

Which I find interesting since there have been plenty of scenes that were basically similar to this one... a companion or the PC kills an NPC. Reactions to these scenes are typically along the lines of 'lol that was badass/funny' or just apathy. I'm mostly thinking about how people reacted to Renegade interrupts in ME (I remember one where you could push a guy through a window) or 'the murder knife' (I think that thing has a fan club somewhere).

But this is definitely different....is it Sera's anger? The scene is more emotionally charged than is typical. Or, maybe it's how she kills him...the beating isn't as quick as, let's say, Shepard just shooting someone. The thing with Sera felt more...personal? Very raw. I think it's probably both.

I think it is good that the scene can bring those feels.

It's how it occurs. Catches you off-guard mid-conversation.

That was interesting because it's not something you get to see happen often in the DA games. (Like I told Xil earlier, it's basically like Sera pulled her own Renegade interrupt.)

Well, since I never took her anywhere with me after that mission, in my game she was just someone who happened to live on the second floor of the inn.

Sten killed an entire family because he couldn't find his sword, with his bare hands and many people love his character. I have no issue with Sera killing the noble that just killed an unarmed man and attempted to kill the inquisitor and party. Don't care that he didn't know, I tell Sera to kill him.every time.

I think it's because we never saw Sten kill the family; violence is easier to swallow when you hear about it secondhand.

Not to mention he turns on you in Haven and literally tries to kill you for no other reason then to test whether you got the stuff as he sees it. I didn't like Sten. He was just a tank to me but you're right that he has his fan club here.

In your keep, on your payroll, in front of hardcore Orlesian diplomats and nobles whose approval you desperately need to save the world.

She led you to a person who admits to plotting against you and about whom you had no idea. He also set his thugs on you and threw fireballs at you. If you don't think that she's a potentially useful ally based on that then that's your prerogative.

Hella had no problem letting her kill that guy after he condescended to say she shouldnt associate with lower class criminals. I mean, she WAS a lower class criminal. She was pretty disturbed by Sera's enthusiasm though.

Olim is a smooth mf and had the dialogue perk.

Well ... a big part of Sten is his regret over doing so as well.

He turned himself in, after all.

That cage you find him in a the beginning might as well not even be locked.

I still like Sera flaws and all, lots of flaws, just at loggerheads with her in regards to my elf. I'm currently trying her again with a human mage this time.

Sten doesn't stay in the cage out of guilt though, he stays because his sword is lost. I mean he does have remorse, but it's not like the self-punishment was all about "oh no I killed people!"...I got the impression that was the smaller stain on his conscience there.
