No offense, but many of us got the point.  You keep posting the same thing over and over again, in a few threads now.    Look, I understand you're disappointed, and that does suck that you haven't found someone to your taste.  However, this isn't "straight male phobia," as I've seen other guys express very different viewpoints from yours about Cassandra and Vivienne.

Besides, we don't know what all the straight options are.  You're assuming that Cass and Vivienne "will be all," when there will be other romances I'm sure.  We don't know about everything yet, and to assume as such is a bad idea.  Also, so what if one of the romances for straight men are NPCs?  There have been gay and lesbian NPC romances before, and I'm willing to bet it didn't bother you then if you played the ME games.

Including more options for a small group isn't excluding the majority.    If you insist on perceiving it as such, then I think you need to reevaluate your stances.

If you don't like it, then just vote with your wallet and don't buy it.   Or try rolling as a female character and romance Sera that way.  I know it isn't the most optimal outcome for you, but the choice is there.

Saying the same thing over and over again in the romance threads isn't going to make BioWare change their minds, nor is it going to change the minds of those that disagree with you.

OH, I just assumed the middle one was DA2 because Matt Rhodes art blog said it something about Hawke, who was originally in the picture. I knew the one on the right was DA:I after Lukas commented, though. Ty :)

Well, that's the fluid nature of game development, especially in preproduction!  Concept art started for that.  A large part of it is simply the redesign of the elf.  But DA2 didn't feature a character that really looked like that (especially not a party member), so while the art itself ended up being appropriated for DA2 (since it was done before DA2 as well lol), I am making the assumption that it's a bit of an evolution of the style until we ended up with Sera :)

FYI, it's Vivienne. Not vivain or vivan.

Sorry I jut needed to vent, I'm done now :P just a little disappointed is all, I forgot about possible NPC romances thanks for that, but all party members are I think all but confirmed and there are no more females so that's out for sure, and as Aveline was my favorite character from DA2(was also bummed I couldn't romance her) Cassandra could be a viable option. Everything else thus far about the game I'm extremely happy and very excited for. Now I just need to see what kind I beard options will be available :P

It's like one guy said in the Romance Thread.

Don't get upset over a 2 minute romance not being open to your Inquisitor.

Hm, sorry I'm playing the world's smallest violin for you because in Mass Effect 3 it is possible to not have ANY hetero romances for a FemShep. (Thane dies, Jacob leaves Shep, Garrus is only available if you romanced him in ME2 and Kaidan COULD be dead... twice. Which leaves a really squicky and abusive Vega/Shep romance IF you pay for a DLC).

Yeah, and complaining that "only" Vivienne and Cass are options... do you not SEE them? They're so smoking The Mask needed a new catch-phrase.

I was really surprised with how pretty the women are in this game.  Sera's hair looks a little weird to me (not the cut, just the texture in game we've seen so far), but she's still super pretty!  (Not that the men aren't!)

I've been pondering yesterday's discussion and a number of people inquired as to what I would like to see in a lesbian that would make me consider them a good lesbian character. It's a fair question: people are shaped strongly by their culture and life experiences, and lesbians are individuals.

Many people, I believe, would also like to avoid discussing the not-fun aspects of being a gay woman*.

I came up with an attribute!

Lesbians like women.

Not just f***ing them (though that's nice) but liking them. The vast majority of lesbians share that attribute and the exceptions tend to be dealing with serious emotional baggage. I think this is a noteworthy attribute because many straight men and women, and gay men, don't like women. Our larger culture reflects this trend.

I suspect this is why I've often seen Leliana as leaning heavily toward the gay side of bisexuality. Her interactions with women suggests she likes and enjoy them. The biggest exception would be her dialogue with Morrigan when she fights over the (male) Warden's romantic interest.

It also occurred to me that the Bechtel Test is exactly the sort of thing a queer woman would come up with. A straight feminist would have focused on a singular woman and asked ‘is she a main character?’ ‘does she have a strong character arc?’ or ‘does she kick ass?’ The idea that what’s good is not a prominent WOMAN but conversation between WOMEN (but not about a dude) is a very lesbian viewpoint.

*I'm not one of them.

I've been on the BioWare forums for a decade now. I am currently in the top ten for number of posts.

Complain all you want, but understand that I'm going to be part of this thread for a very long time. Same-sex romance and queer characters is a big thing for me. Getting a lesbian companion is a big thing for me.

I am a fan. I have thoughts. I post those thoughts.

If you have conversations you want to have, I'm not going to stop you. I will probably participate in those as well.

But yeah... not going to shut up about the gay thing.

Sera is for female Inquisitor only? was planning female rogue Inquisitor first anyways, just need to decide Qunari/Vashoth or human.

I've tried several times now to discuss things about Sera, but they always get buried in the "She's a lesbian" discussion.

And I never said you should shut up about it. I was saying we should discuss more than this one, single aspect to a complex character.

There *could* be racial restrictions on some romances but we don't have details yet and we don't know if they apply to Sera at all.

She just seems like a cool character to me. Not necessarily a lesbian character.

Not to say I wish to change that for you though. I'd just think her being lesbian is the least standout thing.

That's just me though. I'm not as excited about the world the other characters come from (except Varric). They're all cool in their own way, but I'm not as interested in "epic" plots. And I'm sick of mages and templars, Qunari, and all that noise.

I could say the same for fantasy in general. It's always fun to see something removed from serious issues and "epic-ness". Anyone read the Mistborn series, for example? That's like a bank robbery story, set in a fantasy setting. Why don't I see enough of this? It's great.

I think even Patrick Weekes' latest novel might be along those lines (never read it though). The Palace Job?

I'm disturbed by the sheer amount of discussion this has generated, what does her sexuality even factor into the equation of how good a character she might or might not be?

Traynor was one of my favourite characters in ME3 and she was neither a companion, nor a romance option for a Male Shep, but at no point did that fact stop me enjoying the banter and sibling-like relationship grow between those two characters. Similarly if you don't romance her as FemShep, the friendship between those two very different women was still as enjoyable as hell to watch.

As long as her friendship path for a Male Inquisitor or a straight Femquisitor is just as well written and engaging as her romance path for the Female Inquisitor, what does her sexuality even matter to anyone?

Isn't there some other thread specifically dedicated to sexual orientation discussion? Yeah, pretty sure there is. Ergo, I request that you please take your concerns on the matter over to a separate thread, because you seem to derail the topic off Sera into "LESBIANISM AND HOW LESBIANISM IS IMPORTANT TO ME PERSONALLY AND THIS IS HOW I VIEW LESBIANISM AND SERA IS LESBIAN" as if that's the only thing to her character.
